I used to like this organization when they had a real (GOOD WILL) but I'm sorry no more..Goodwill as we know is a nonprofit organization, But when Goodwill was closed because of Covid-19 & opened again they immediately shoot the prices to the (double & triple) plus the quality of most of the item seems so bad not like befoe..as if the poor people are the ones who closed Goodwill stores. Instead of helping people who became without income, and lower the prices , the did the opposite: they made the prices higher just to tell the people that we are no more have a GOOD WILL towards you
Also there is a new phenomenon appeared after they opened again which is all the employees start begining & asking each buyer to donate the remaining of their bill..as if the high prices not enough to tear the poor people apart so they ask for more
I think Goodwill is no more (Good) Will..it turns now unfortunately to (Greedy) Will ..I hope the people who are responsible of Goodwill to re-think about the prices & also order the employees to stop beginning for donation like beggers
Thanks
I was dropping items off at our local Goodwill donation center and found out they qualify for the charitable tax credit in Arizona. The flier they provided alerted me that I can donate $400 to Goodwill and then get a tax CREDIT at the end of the year for $400. This doesn't affect our tax credit we give to our local school either - we can give both and it reduces our taxes by that amount. We love giving to our favorite charities and schools instead of the state through the tax credit program. Thank you Arizona and Goodwill.
We have a son that graduated from NAU. He found a great job as a business analyst for a major company here in the Valley through Goodwill. I think most people think Goodwill only helps people get low paying jobs within the Goodwill stores. They help ANYONE get jobs based on their qualifications, and coached him on creating a better resume and marketing himself to strong employers. They gave him confidence and ultimately launched what we hope is a good career.
We will support Goodwill now through the tax credit every year AND through our donations. We encourage you to do the same and help someone else launch a new career!
We have donated a LOT ,and every thing was clean and like new.The worker would throw into large blue container.I said that is full of DIRT and broken glass.I emptied the unit.Spoke to CORP.they were going to correct.Took more items back, same treatment.Called to speak to an officer, got hung up on.I feel extra employment to CLEAN the container,NOT throw things into(brocken items occur) and hire people to CLEAN items comming into being donated would IMPROVE IMAGE.I HAVE NOT DONATED AN ITEM SINCE MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE.
I have donated to Goodwill off and on for years. They are always very polite and actually make me feel as if my donation REALLY means something to them. I decided recently to look into a bit more about their mission, I knew the did something with putting people in jobs or to work, but wasn't sure exactly what that meant. I assumed it meant just within their stores, but was surprised and proud to find out how much more they do. When they say they "put people to work" that doesn't just mean in Goodwill. They have these job training centers where people can get resume and interview help. They even help people learn how to use a computer, to better train them for job opportunities. So not only are they employing people within their stores, those stores are helping them (by generating revenue) find people in the community jobs. They have a phrase about "not giving a hand out, but a hand up!" Pretty cool if you ask me. Well done Goodwill!!
I have always donated to Goodwill and even shop their stores - a lot. I love finding the great items at greatly reduced prices. And the best part is, all the revenue from the stores goes to fund a great mission. It's a win-win situation. I'm getting great things for my home without breaking the bank and I'm helping Goodwill educate and train people in our community. I tell my friends all the time to shop Goodwill. I love Goodwill!
The Goodwill stores are getting very expensive... when a piece of furniture is broken and missing parts and they still want $49 for it.. that is ridiculous.. At some stores in Phoenix the prices are reasonable but at most of the stores the prices are at least double. of what they were a year ago .. it just takes all the fun out of it.. I don't mind having to take something home and fix it but really.. it's all priced for 1/2 price Saturday.. I would rather shop the church thirft stores. they have better prices and nicer stuff.
This is a great organization! The stores are well maintained, service is good, and the staff members are always friendly. It's amazing what a person can find there, and it's just a great way to be responsible with resources. And even better, donating and shopping at Goodwill is helping others in the community! That's the best part!
I regularly donate items to Goodwill. I do this because I know that they provide good services. Many Years ago I had job counseling and it really turned my life around, I know that Goodwill does job counseling and If my donations can help this organization provide something that helped me, it makes it that much better.
