I have adopted numerous dogs from this group over the past 2 decades. Each dog has brought me much joy and companionship. The organization strives to place dogs in homes where they will thrive--they take their time and make solid matches so that the dogs and the adopters both live happily ever after. I would recommend this group to anyone looking to adopt a nice, well-cared for dog.

This rescue organization is one of the finest non-profit rescue groups anywhere. They are always full because they rescue so many dogs regardless of how much or how little work, time and expense it takes to get each dog ready for her/his forever home. They work tirelessly to keep the funding coming in to support their life saving work and deserve to be supported by their community and by everyone who loves dogs. I run a rescue organization that provides funds to small rescue groups who are mostly volunteer and have a great track record of saving lives, and it is our privilege to support German Shepherd Rescue as often as we can. They also do the most important thing a rescue group can do; they are great at making the right match between dog and adopter. And they stand behind every adoption.

I just found my review from Oct 2013 after I had already written a new one today. I laughed as it was almost identical. What that tells me is that this rescue is true to its word. The volunteers are phenomenal, the leadership is strong and the vision is never-ending. 5 years later I am still in awe and now I have 2 dogs from the group in my home that I love, love, love. I continue to provide sponsorship to this group and I help fundraise from another state. I visit with them any chance I get to SoCal. THANK YOU GSROC for holding the course. LOVE all of the volunteers and glad to call many of you my friend.

Since I learned of GSROC through a news report related to a GSD named Courage several years ago, I have been overwhelmed by the spirit of this organization. I am familiar with GSD rescue from another state and when I attended a simple meet and greet event in Costa Mesa at Centinela, I literally had to step away and cry. It is a struggle in the rescue world to maintain volunteer enthusiasm and committment but this group...I applaud them everyday. Not only was there a volunteer for each 'adoptable' dog in attendance but there were more in the store with bake sale items, selling goods to fundraise and answer questions about the rescued animals. I seriously was in awe. THANK YOU GSROC for being what you are and even when it feels like it is too much....you all come through time and time again. I love supporting this team even when I am not visiting CA. They certainly have broken the mold when it comes to a rescue organization.

I have had multiple positive experiences with the GSROC. I first found them online when I found a German Shepherd collapsed on the side of the road. I thought it was almost dead, and took it to the local Animal Shelter for euthanasia. However, I found out that the reason the dog was in such bad condition was not from a fatal diagnosis, but rather from a skin infection which impacted his ears - and his balance. The dog looked and smelled like death. I cannot tell you how bad a situation this dog was in. Once I found out that the dog could be saved, I started to contact rescue groups... and the ONLY ONE to step forward and agree to help was the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County! I brought them the dog from the shelter, and to my amazement - they saw to his care and healing. The "before" and "after" pictures are shocking. I named him "Denver" and he was adopted to a loving forever home. This rescue doesn't just take easy to adopt, cute puppies - but takes sick and injured dogs like Denver too. After that, I decided to be a volunteer for life! I have done home visits and transports, I have collected items for donation for yard sales to raise funds, contacted businesses for donations, in addition to fostering special needs dogs. This group is amazing!!
