5 for Fairness was started by a good a friend of mine who consistantly makes a difference in the world... she has 3 sons and I truly believe this nonprofit project is her "daughter". Anna has gathered people into 5 for Fairness to help make a change in young women's lives that would not have had an opportunity to get assistance without us. Each member of 5 for Fairness can feel their $5 has not only helped a woman in need but their donation and vote allows them to feel altrustic in the humblest sense.

I recently became a Board Member of 5 For Fairness. I love this organization because it is an extremely effective way to give to groups that help under-served women and girls all over the world. The membership cost is low and because there are virtually no administration costs for 5 For Fairness, the donations go straight to the group that wins the grant. Because of the "competition" to win the grant, members get to learn about many other organizations and can donate or become active in them too.

I have been a board member since the creaton of this on-line grant-making non-profit. It was the idea of a friend of mine, who wanted to be active in reaching out to help those with projects for improving girls' circumstances in one's own neighborhood or on the other side of the world. The world is made small by the internet and 5 For Fairness is bridging the geographical gap. Also, the value of this effort is not just to attract and distribute fund to worthy projects, but to educate 5 For Fairness participants about worthy efforts on behalf of girls that, hopefully, will have the ripple effect of linking those with resources to those with needs in areas of interest for the participants.
