Mission: Since 1962, the Union Gospel Mission has provided food, clothing, shelter, and a life-changing gospel message to Sacramento's homeless and struggling populations. The Mission has grown to serve more than 9,000 meals monthly. Every night, we shelter 84 men and assist with mail service, haircuts, and showers continuously.
The gospel is shared every night before dinner for our homeless guests by church groups who also volunteer to serve dinner.
Our intensive 10-month Men’s New Life Program is free of charge and accommodates 24 men with a Bible-structured curriculum. A vocational training and job placement program helps men find new beginnings, restoring dignity to broken lives, and providing hope.
Our Women’s Clothes Closet provides showers and a huge variety of essential items such as clothing, shoes, purses, and hygiene items to assist them with their daily needs, help them prepare for work, and provide for their children.
We provide food boxes to seniors and families, including special holiday meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
UGM’s Mission Statement: We aim to MEET people’s practical needs, TRAIN biblically, and SEND transformed lives back into society and the local church, prepared for life.
Results: The Mission continues to be a beacon of Jesus Christ's Light to all who come through our doors! Different church groups give each night chapel service to share the gospel that offers the eternal transformation of a new life in Christ! Other church groups serve the dinners every night, and many volunteers come for special events throughout the year and to serve in our Women's Clothing Closet.
Our Logo portrays the "Jesus Saves" sign atop our building, with a Union of Christians, sharing the gospel while doing the work of a mission!
