I started working at the Union Gospel Mission in the late '70s and just retired in 2020. I still come to UGM on Thursday mornings with my wife for her to help out in the Women's Clothing Closet ministry. It has been a very exciting and rewarding experience working, mostly, with men who were in our Rehab. Program. I have had the pleasure of seeing many men's lives completely changed thanks to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. I did some counseling and building relationships which is a monumental part of our ministry. And, the friends that I have made through the years of this ministry will be a lasting relationship throughout eternity! I am grateful to see the work continuing as it always has with the Gospel being the center of all that we do! (In the pictures, I am wearing the old name badge, a couple of pictures of me through the years at UGM, and then my wife, Anne, from many years ago when she was working in the UGM Kitchen.)
After stepping out of a period of mental and physical healing, I was eager to find a place to volunteer. God is truly good! He led me to a church after I had been isolated due to COVID-19 for over a year. When I approached the church staff about volunteering, they mentioned they had a group volunteer at the Union Gospel Mission, and I joined them every third Thursday of the month. After a few visits ministering and praying for the homeless, the Night Supervisor, Bobby, gave me a card for the Women’s Clothes Closet coordinator, which opened up even more opportunities to serve. That’s how I met Ms. Kim Souza; she has a heart for women doing all she can to share the love of Jesus with everyone she meets. What a wonderful example she is.
I volunteered for nearly two years, and it was a profound experience. I cherished the moments spent praying with women in need and sharing God's love. Each day brought new blessings, not only for our guests but for me as well.
Today, I work as the Receptionist at the Union Gospel Mission, where I have even more opportunities to touch lives through kindness, encouragement, and prayer. I love being a part of this community and witnessing the impact we can have together.
It’s has been such a great joy volunteering with my church once a month at UGM Sac. We serve by faithfully sharing the gospel with the homeless and leading them in worship. It’s encouraging to have personal conversations and pray with them after service as they wait to receive a meal. It’s amazing to see the different churches from around Sacramento come serve here each night. I’m grateful to be able to serve in this ministry.
I Have been associated with The Union Gospel Mission for quite a number of years and a board member for several of those. I am in awe of the dedication and unwavering message of the mission to bring the Gospel to the poor souls that call the street there home. The staff and all that are associated with the Union Gospel Mission show the love that is given to us all from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God Bless

I have a relative whose life was literally saved by the work and blessings of the fine folks at Union Gospel Mission in Sacramento. My relative and my entire family are forever grateful to the Mission and its many fine professionals.

Union Gospel Mission of Sacramento is a lifesaving, society building miracle. Staffed by men and women devoted to the Lord, the Mission has saved hundreds -- perhaps thousands -- of lives over the years, and brought hope to the families of those rescued, often for the first time in the family's experience with men who were lost to a life of sin and perdition.
My brother was bound for an early grave after decades of drug abuse, serious crime, and imprisonment. Try though we did, our family simply couldn't bring him back from the precipice of a death in sin -- nothing, that is, until one of us was blessed with the inspiration to contact the Mission and ask that he be admitted to their year-long program.
After several weeks of prayer, hard work to have my brother move back to California, and, most importantly, the Holy Spirit moving through the staff and executives at the Mission, my brother was admitted to, and eventually completed, the Mission's program. Today, several years later, he remains a devout Christian, no longer leading a troubled life.
When receiving thanks and gratitude for their extraordinary work, the staff at the Mission is quick to humbly explain that the results of their efforts are the work of Jesus Christ -- and with that, no one can argue. Nonetheless, I for one am very pleased that the Mission's staff and executives are the very ones through whom Jesus chooses to work.
UGM is a wonderful organization that has served the homeless population for over 60 years. I at one point was homeless and know what it is like to go hungry and have no place to go. The Mission truly acts as the hands and feet of Christ. May God bless the staff and volunteers who serve the least of these.
I am a longtime donor of UGM. I truly believe in this Mission. They have been serving the homeless and impoverished population of Sacramento for 62 years and have changed countless lives. They are faithfully sharing the gospel daily and feeding, sheltering, and clothing people in need. God bless you all for your work!
Have you ever experienced that you caught sight of something, and that sight becomes a visionary memory? One such impression happened one day, after I served in the UGM WCC shower ministry.
I saw WCC coordinator Kim talked with a few women, who had finished showering (and shopping) -- she show them resources, pointing them ways to get back on their feet. Immediately a deep gratitude arises in my heart. That is the sight that keeps resurfacing in my mind, and I am very thankful for Kim!
When these homeless women stand in the ways and see (Jeremiah 6:16), through several areas WCC offers, they are assisted in many practical ways that provide aid, and her loving heart reroute them back to the one way, to find rest for their souls, is invaluable.
It was a beautiful picture, so beautiful, that I feel Jesus says, thank you Kim, for your faithful service

Volunteering at Union Gospel Mission is a very rewarding experience for me. Various reasons made them lost that window of time in their youth to build their lives, but the look in their eyes resonate - when you see them eye to eye, somehow you see yourself... for starting from the very beginning, we are all homeless: Adam and Eve were made to leave Garden of Eden that they called "home". So, at UGM, there is no need to "size up" where you are at (status, ranking, the ladder, etc.), this is a place somehow make you feel we are truly really EQUAL. So yes, Union Gospel Mission is a distinguished, top-rated nonprofit, a faith-based help ministry.
Hi my name is Helen, folks call me Cookie, I have a history with Union Gospel Mission, which started 54 years ago at the age of 10. Then and now, this place of hope and love gave, not with just clothes and food but with the spirit of God, loving and compassionate. Serving others is the greatest gift that involves others need instead of our own. I serve in the Women's Clothes closet, each time I see the women that come through our doors, my heart is overwhelmed. One verse that reflects the Union Gospel Mission, "What we proclaim is not of ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:5. I reflect back, to that 10 year old girl, that was clothed, feed, God is love
Thank you to everyone at UGM Sacramento! I’ve been several times with our church and it’s such a blessing to watch the family of God serving where He has called them and bringing the light of Christ to so many in need. Lord bless you all and know you are in my prayers and the prayers of so many others!
It is wonderful to serve amongst volunteers who do not see addiction, homelessness, color, or filth, but only see what Jesus does. Lost, broken, needy men and women. Jesus came to serve with all His life and in turn asks us to do so. I treasure the many opportunities offered at the Union Gospel Mission to show people that they are valued, important, needed and wanted.

Union Gospel Mission (UGM) - they care and they share. 'They care' - about each person they encounter. I've seen the overflow of love firsthand. ' They share' - meeting physical needs with items such as clothes, food, and even sweet stuffed animals to reach the hearts of the children; and, I LOVE that they share the gospel! When we get to heaven, wouldn't it be soooo exciting to see those who are now a part of the family of God because of the faithfulness of UGM - it's employees, volunteers, and donors?! Each doing their part as the family of God to reach and serve others for Christ. Praise God for His love, grace and faithfulness.
I donate at UGM frequently and am always met by a smiling staff member eager to help. Many times I have seen an unhoused person walk up to the storeroom and ask if they have a certain item available and they are always treated with dignity and respect. UGM is the best!
They do a phenomenal job ministering to the homeless of Sacramento with sheltering, feeding, addiction recovery, clothing, and further services and have done so for decades.
UGM is a valuable resource serving the unhoused and addicted in the Sacramento area. I've had the privilege of serving on several occasions and they truly are a blessing to both those who serve and are served.
I've volunteered at Union Gospel Mission and it's always a great place to volunteer. They help so many people and it's so great. I hope UGM stays for a long time so that they can continue to help others.

I love this place! I serve here with my church once a month with our worship/prayer team and I can tell you, it's always a pleasure serving here. I've also served with their team for one of their celebrations where they served up some super yummy food to the people staying there and it was so much to work with the Union Gospel team and well as the amazing people they care for. God is really doing amazing things through that ministry and I can see people doing well through their program. I recommend this place and I recommend serving there as well! If you're looking for a place to volunteer, this is a great place to start.
UGM is an awesome place. They support those in need in so many ways. I have volunteered there and found it to be such a great time. Thank you to all of the wonderful staff for creating such a loving and supportive environment!
Ugm does a wonderful job meeting the needs of the homeless and poor while preaching the gospel in a world that needs Jesus now more than ever.
I have been blessed to be a volunteer at the UGM Womens Clothes Closet since 12/22. In the 8 months that I have had the honor of serving, I have seen the women’s clothes closet expand their services to add Tuesdays, women’s showers available on the Tues and Thurs they come to the closet, and a Women’s New Life Addiction Recovery Bible Study. THIS IS IN 8 MONTHS! The Lord is working miracles here serving men and women in need. The UGM is truely carrying out The Gospel serving the community.
Wow! I've participated in events to help the homeless before but what a joy it was to tour UGM recently and learn more about what they are doing. Although there are many local efforts to help the homeless population in our area, UGM is exceptional at providing those who want lasting and life-changing help to get it. UGM's services are 'not just another handout' but rather a genuine hand up. Through meeting the spiritual and physical needs of many each night, UGM's services to our homeless population often produce lasting results in their lives ... a good path forward for those who seek it.
Our church has been helping serve dinner for years. This is a well worthwhile organization. They not only feed the people, but they also help them to go to school, so they can have a productive life.
I have donated many items to Union Gospel Mission. The staff is warm and friendly and inviting. When I inquired about the services offered, I was given a short tour of the facilities. The work they do is amazing from the women’s clothes closet, fitness area, food boxes and meals-they are working hard to assist the unhoused and spread the word of God.
I have been a donor of UGM for several years and love the Godly work they do. It is great to know that my money is going towards a cause that helps people physically and spiritually. I have seen evidence of God's transformation in people--especially the men who are in the rehab program.
33 + years of humble service of worship at UGM ❤️ I’ve observed hundreds if not thousands of precious souls get saved and more significantly, a remnant enter UGM’s amazing recovery program. Those individuals who’ve dedicated themselves to assist these individuals are special and are very passionately involved in each person and praying for all to reach their goals of a life free of addiction and a closer relationship with Jesus. ❤️
Homelessness has been a huge issue in Sacramento for as long as I’ve been alive. Seeing Union Gospel Mission, or UGM stand firm for 60 years shows that they have a heart for what they do. I’ve been blessed to volunteer with my church for Sunday chapel and the special banquet events serving food to the guests that come through. The joy on the faces of these amazing people when they receive a tray of hot food is something that makes me keep returning to serve. I remember also making friends with many of the men in the rehab program who have begun to devote their life to Christ and their recovery from what may be holding them back. Seeing the work in these men that comes from UGM and from the Lord is something that shows how on fire the workers, volunteers, and program men are for the Lord. I love volunteering here and love the work I get to witness being done in these people’s lives. Here’s to another 60 UGM!!
The Union Gospel Mission is a caring, loving, Christ-centered business that has a long record of positive results in a critically-important area. Their staff is amazing, and I know several success stories - graduates who have broken their addiction and have become productive members of society. They have a great heart, solid, Biblical approach and I couldn't sing their praises enough!
Everyone is so friendly and they serve the less fortunate so well. They know their mission and achieve it extremely well.
I volunteer monthly with my church group helping with the evening chapel service and serving the meal afterwards. UGM is an amazing rescue mission that, through the power of the Holy Spirit and love of Christ, helps to transform people and lives. I see it firsthand and am fortunate to be a part of what the Mission does for people.
They took care of me for years and years - providing me housing, tons of amazing food, sometimes a kind word, and let's not forget the most important - all the hundreds and hundreds of sermons I sat in - planted the seed of Jesus in a non-believer. I found the sermons to be very strong and they were incredibly important by chipping away at my non-belief until i finally became a believer in Christ! I find a lot of community churches preach a watered down sermon - but at UGM, the sermons were much stronger than I find in my local community churches. I miss the fire of those sermons I heard at UGM. Maybe one day I can return to UGM to visit and give my testimony. Let's start with how Jesus rescued me from the streets and gave me new life in Him, and housing, after 18 years on the street! I have had so many answered prayers, they cannot be coincidences!
The mission is doing some incredible work in the Sacramento area! Their staff is extremely gifted and kind, they have great programming, and I believe they are making a strong impact in the community. I’m in support of the mission & rooting for them in all that they do.
I contacted Eileen Trussell via Alignable and wanted to learn more about their mission. She referred me to the website http://www.ugmsac.com/
I see that they are soliciting donations to offer Holiday Meals to the needy this year. I offered a limited amount my services for people they service who may be in need of getting their back taxes filed in order to get back on their feet and become productive and self sufficient. From the limited amount I currently know, this looks like an excellent charity. http://www.ugmsac.com/
The Gideon’s International Organization has had a volunteer relationship with this wonderful beacon of for over 50 years. I’ve personally have lead worship for chapel services for at the Sacramento Union Gospel Mission over 37 years. UGM feeds, clothes, sleeping accommodations and gives those in transition hope. Their recovery program is extremely successful. When you donate to UGM or volunteer, you’re investing in precious individuals lives and giving them a chance to change their lives to a meaningful and productive life. Chris (Worship Leader)
UGM delivers on their promises to love and care for everyone who comes their way seeking assistance. They are an incredible resource for the Sacramento community and the Kingdom of God. Lives are changed for eternity through this ministry!
I have worked peripherally with the Union Gospel Mission Sacramento for many years. I can attest to their outstanding service both to the community and to individuals. They are one organization that is successful in helping people to reclaim their lives. As a local college professor, I have seen many men who went through the program at UGM, then became college students, and have then reentered the work-force successfully.
Making real change in the lives of the homeless and those down on their luck through accountability, work, and learning about the love of Jesus. The only long term solution to the homeless issue. The staff hearts and the men they house that work on site are truly amazing!
The Union Gospel Mission is a FANTASTIC place to volunteer! The staff here are as interested in caring and ministering to me as they are to the people who come for the services. It feels like one big family!
The Union Gospel Mission provides a wonderful opportunity for women and children to receive clothing and hygiene supplies monthly. Shuniqua is a wonderful women’s director. I’ve seen her give freely to the women. She encouraged me personally with her spiritual insight and practical approach. #servantleadership
The Union Gospel Mission Sacramento is an extraordinary organization, filled with extraordinary people. My family and I have had the great fortune to visit many times. The staff is loving and caring. God-focused. They are making a tangible difference helping those who need our love and care. I couldn't recommend their work any higher. They are amazing and are turning around lives in a meaningful way. The homeless numbers are growing in our area. There are many efforts to assist them, but, for my vote, no organization does a more effective, cost-efficient job than UGM Sacramento.

Our company volunteered with the Union Gospel Mission last fall and our experience was amazing! They truly help those in need and care. They are not funded with tax payer dollars but rely solely on generous donations from the public. The women’s closet is such a nice place for homeless women and children, or near homeless women to get what they need. The men’s program for rehabilitation is also wonderful. I enjoy hearing all of the success stories form the lives they have changed.
Union Gospel Mission provides shelter, food, and clothing to those desperately in need. The biggest and most important need is knowing Jesus, and they open their hearts to share the good news of the gospel. It is the gospel that will truly change and save a life. Donating to me means I am helping to evangelize and participating in feeding the poor and so much more. They provide other essential services like haircuts, showers, and food baskets. They help men And women restore their lives and help them begin again, providing job training. This is a worthy, life-saving organization to partner with.
I love to volunteer at the Union Gospel Mission in Sacramento. Our Bible Study Group comes to decorate for special occations, serves meals on holidays, gathers clothes for the homeless and provide blankets for the beds at the mission. We so appreciate the meals served, the chapels provided and the recovery program for the men. The men in the recovery program are always so polite and helpful to us when we volunteer. It is a worthy recipiant of your support both financially and materially.

I love that Union Gospel Mission provides Christians the opportunity to serve. Many of the men at our church go together on one Wednesday night a month to minister and it's just so cool to hear the stories of not only clients being blessed, but the guys are as well!
The mission of each person working for Union Gospel Mission is succeeded by their love and devotion first to Christ and then to mankind. I've been blessed to be able to contribute items through the years but was impacted so deeply when I attended a service one Wednesday night. I sat next to a young man named Chris. He was traveling through the area and definitely looked homeless. I'll never forget him saying " I am so, so tired." I think of and pray for Chris often and wonder where he is on his journey. I know at least that night he went to sleep in a warm bed with a full belly. Thank you Union Gospel Mission for not forgetting these men and women.
Union Gospel Mission Sacramento provide well organized free services to the most deserved population. Our organization staff visited this organization in December 2019 and we were really impressed at the services they provide to the homeless, addicts, children and women. AS we did last year, we would definitely continue to contribute donations to this organization this year and in the coming years. 'Thank you' for the charity services and serving the Sacramento community. Cyril John
Union Gospel is in the heart of the neediest area of Sacramento. It has a record of nearly 60 years of serving the down and out men of our area. Not only do they serve them in a quality manner by providing food and housing, they change lives. My wife and I are long time donors, and our church has also supported Union Gospel Mission. We had the privilege of attending their last graduation and saw first hand and heard the testimonies of the men whose lives were turned around.
I've been donating to Union Gospel Mission Sacramento for a few years now. Not sure how long but do know that I will keep doing for as long as I'm around. Last year I received a text inviting me to join them in serving the homeless population at an early Christmas event. I joyfully went and it was the best experience I've had in a long time. All the people serving were so kind, friendly and caring. And my being able to be that close to the homeless, speaking with them and giving hugs was so wonderful.
I do hand out food, drink, clothing, socks, shoes, etc. by car so being close enough to speak and hug them was something I really appreciated.
There was suppose to be another gathering in April but of course, didn't happen. When it does, I'll be there. My passion has been helping the homeless population so being able to donate to Union Gospel Mission knowing that all monies are used to serve and only that, is a heart warming feeling to me.
Thank you for all you do. May our Lord keep blessing you.

Thank you for your kind words, your generous heart, and the tremendous help that you are doing for the homeless! God bless you in all that you do!
We've been donating to the Sacramento Union Gospel Mission for years. Back in the 80's as a contractor I was donating labor as needed in my line of work. Since the 70's I have personally known Pastor Tim since before he became a Christian. His commitment to our Lord caused him to eventually become a pastor of a small church and he later became the UGM director about 15 years ago. I know of his integrity, his magnetic personality, and his passion for our Lord and for the homeless. GuideStar has recognized this organization with a Gold Seal of Transparency for voluntarily and publicly describing their goals, strategies, and accomplishments. This non-profit charity is truly deserving of contributions to help the homeless in our community.
We have been involved with the Mission for about 1 1/2 years. Our church has one of the chapel services, and have been able to speak on several occasions. Every service we see people accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We now hand out bibles and reading glasses to any guest that wants them. We love being involved with the mission and see God change lives through their program that enables people to reenter society. Thank you for all your great work
I love how this organization not only gives handouts, but has programs to help the people coming through integrate back into society, while addressing their deepest spiritual needs. That's what makes this place excellent.
I have been involved with the Mission for almost 9 years...The staff does a tremendous job keeping UGM running without flaw. P. Tim and the entire ministry staff are incredible people who always are thankful doing what they do..."Save Souls"... When ever I come by, the men in the program are always happy, thankful and extremely thoughtful. Watching them grow in the Lord is exciting.
I will forever be thankful for the Mission and will continue to donate to what ever is needed!
I think this place is wonderful because they seek to help the homeless and those seeking to put their lives back together by giving them true hope and lasting change which can only come through change from within. They preach the word of God and share Jesus Christ everyday. Those on the program get Biblical Counseling. Men are taught to put their hope in God not in themselves. True change . Real help.
As a volunteer in the Union Gospel Mission Women's clothes closet, I have witnessed the amazing impact in the lives of homeless and near homeless or low-income women. The closet itself is beautiful and shows respect and the love of Jesus. The most recent experience that stands out is when a mother arrived with 7 children needing clothes and school supplies. The closet volunteers, under the leadership of Sabrina, the closet coordinator, rallied around this mother to help her shop for her children and herself. The children left with clothes, back packs, school supplies and some toys and books. Mom was also able to get needed clothing.
This experience reflects the joy in being part of the Union Gospel Mission.

I give bibles & tracks to the homeless. I always include all the things available at Union Gospel Mission. I feel they have the best help for the homeless. And it gives them great hope to find out all they have for them. Please bless this mission & the fantastic work they do!
My husband has been changed by God through this ministry. For the first time in his life there was someone listening to him, believing in him, and encouraging him to do things differently. That was 15 years ago. We have been married 7 years now and we are loving our life with God and each other. People in this ministry love people and their demonstration of that love changes people in need.
I've been giving to this organization for years and years because I know the good they are doing for our community. They not only help people with addictions, but also low income people are helped with food and clothes. The people who want to get free of their addictions get the spiritual help they need in conjunction with a structured program that works.

We have witnessed men whose entire lives have been changed 180 degrees. From addicts with no hope to healthy men with self confidence and a vision for their positive futures. They were psychologically defeated knowing they have tried on their own only to be beat down over and over again.
This mission rely s only on the public's contributions. They exhibit great and sincere compassion. They don't put anyone down. They build people up with the knowledge they are God's creation and He wants to help them live a positive life.
We personally find this a most worthy charity and a fine investment for our money.
I'm not even sure how I became connected with the Union Gospel Mission, but I have been donating to them for over twenty years. Over that time, I have received heartfelt thanks in the mail and through invitations to visit the mission and tour the facility and hear about the ministry and good work they do.
So much reaching out goes on at the Union Gospel Mission. Many have probably never heard of it, but there is a lot of love and sincere caring there.
There are many other places that ask me for donations, but I truly feel that the money I donate to the Union Gospel Mission is put to such rewarding use. Those who go through the program at the Union Gospel Mission come out with a new focus and hope.
I believe in the work that the Union Gospel Mission does and will continue to support it.
As a volunteer for several years I can say that Union Gospel Mission is really making a difference in people's lives.\uD83D\uDE42our church also serves once a month and have blessed many and been blessed in return! We are so thankful there's a place like UGM and the awesome people who work there.
Union Gospel Mission is an awesome place. The staff and volunteers are dedicated to helping the less fortunate. Several months ago, I had an opportunity to tour the mission. I was so impressed with the entire atmosphere, the caring staff and outstanding programs and opportinities offered.
This organization does great work helping out people who need to "get back on their feet" with great programs. They work hard to feed the hungry and teach life skills.
They are offering a place of refuge for those with no where else to go.

I have the blessing of helping a bit at UGM Sacramento. Their hearts are gold. They are making a big difference in many lives. They are doing wonderful work - restoring lives for the long term; imparting hope and faith in those who need it the most. Could not recommend them enough!
It is true that one thing leads to another. A series of events brought me to find Union Gospel Mission Sacramento's Rehabilitation Program for my son. It is also true that the person suffering from a drug or alcohol addiction has to want to get help for themselves for it to work. For my son, entering a program that was based on Faith, Christian beliefs, love and understanding finally seemed to be what he had been looking for for many years. Union Gospel Mission Sacramento not only changed his life while he was there and they continue to be a special part of his life but they changed my life too. I am so blessed to have gotten to know everyone that works there and call them my friends. They are all doing God's work and it is a true blessing to the program men and all of the countless homeless people they help.
I have seen the Union Gospel Mission help men restart their lives. I have heard many testimonies of the men that have went through the rehabilitation program and graduated, whereby they have been reunited with their families, went back to work and attribute their new lives back to the program and the staff at the Union Gospel Mission. I have prayed with many of the homeless just before they go in for their nightly meal after our chapel service and seen the tears of gratitude for not only a place for them to rest, but also the food that is provided daily. I am also very grateful for the additional work that is done for women and the working poor. Our women's clothes closet and the food baskets provide the extra that is needed to help provide food for families and clean clothes for woman that are homeless or struggling financially. I am so thankful for the amazing staff at the mission that helps so many men and women.

I have met and heard the testimony of hundreds of the graduates of the Union Gospel Mission and through each and everyone of those, they share the difference the Mission has made in their lives. How the staff and the other men on the program have helped them get through a tough time and how their lives have been improved. There has never been a graduation ceremony that I have attended that I have not been moved to tears from the men that completed the Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Program after they shared their appreciation and stories. The staff reflects a tremendous amount of sincere helpful and loving attitudes and they all strive to help those struggling with addictions or homelessness. I am also thankful the Mission is able to also help women with their lives as well, through the Woman's Clothes Closet and the Bible Studies. Through the constant prayers and petitions to the Lord, the Mission is truly blessed.
We have been supporting Union Gospel Mission for several years since we took my son there for Recovery. He wasn't ready to be a part of this amazing program, but WE WERE! We are parents of an addict, have a prison ministry & do Christian counseling & teaching as God leads.
We have been through the Mission as well as collected food, clothing & personal items to donate. We know a leader in the Recovery program personally and are just so very impressed at the heart & soul of this much needed ministry!!! They have a wonderful balance of compassion & accountability. There are so many homeless & needy now on the streets and this mission is a haven of hope & help!! They are where the "rubber meets the road" ~ just as Jesus was! Union Gospel Mission deserves to be blessed as they bless so many!!!
UGM is very committed to serving homeless, preaching the gospel, helping turn lives around. Always responsive to my emails. Appreciative when we come to serve meals.
UGM had change my life back in 2009 in the program. I became Internal there and Got hired on and still with UGM as Evening Supervisor helping others like I been help. They help with different services. I love the way they make you feel you are important no matter what the need is.
A loved one received assistance and guidance from this amazing place. I would recommend Union Gospel Mission to anyone in need.
Union Gospel Mission is the non-profit at the top of our "love to support" list!! We have personally known their staff & dedication to helping those in need for several years as client served, donor & professional in related field. Their tireless & unselfish work is unmatchable. UGM is totally responsible in their use of funds & items donated. They truly care about & love the brothers & sisters who come to them for help. We whole-heartedly support UGM & urge you to join us!!!!
The volunteers in the Womens Clothes Closet are amazing. Full of gentleness and guidance, knowledge and willingness to love on the gals who show up. They are also Prayer Warriors! Thank you to each one for enriching the lives of so many!

This mission house is doing more than any other nonprofit around. They have many options for helping homeless and needy, all in the name of Christ the Lord. Not many big shelters around give eternal spiritual hope for the needy souls
Great experience, first time serving at the church service. Good participation and accommodation to make sure everything would work with equipment, and audience attendance/participation was also really good. Look forward to serving the needy again!
The Union Gospel Mission consistently shares the love of God with everyone who walks through their door.
The cause provides loving, but effective aid to the homeless. The give and educate while exemplifying God's great love.
I have been working in this field for 30 years and have not found a place that does all that UGM has done over the last 54 years.
The Union Gospel Mission is doing everything well. This organization is helping a tremendous amount of people while keeping God at the center of their mission to help. I think they could improve by advertising more, maybe. Other than that they are doing an excellent job.
It gives the homeless food & shelter along with an opportunity to enter a program where they learn how to live out the gospel daily & are given assistance finding a job. They need a women's program also.
We appreciate the generosity of the Union Gospel Mission. We benefit greatly from their generosity. Their Christian love shines through.
Union Gospel provides physical and emotional assistance to those in need. They offer a compassionate place for those who need relief.
They have a great public outreach in the public sector My donations appear to be utilized wisely by the director and staff of UGM. Good success stories from the people this mission serves
Union Gospel Missiom rehabilitates men and puts them to work. I've personally met some of their men and enjoy talking and working with them. I've dealt with them in ministry as well as personally donating furniture that they picked up with great service. Only improvement would be more publicity to get more support.
When I was in a dark place in my life the Mission was there 7 days a week. It was nice to get a hot meal, shower and clean clothes. Of all The word of God.
This nonprofit is excellent at providing men who are without shelter a place to stay and eat for the night while preaching the message about the Gospel. It can improve if it was an autonomous entity free from the influence of a board.
A few years ago, my brother was in a very dark place. Living on the streets, addicted to drugs and alcohol, lacking true faith in Jesus Christ, he was on the verge of losing both his life and his soul.
Meanwhile, I knew Pastor Lane and many of the Spirit-filled professionals at Union Gospel Mission in my capacity as an advisor for the Mission on business matters. Fearing for my brother, I called Pastor Lane to ask for his help. After listening to me describe my brother's circumstances, Pastor Lane invited him to apply for the Mission's one-year Faith-based recovery program. The Holy Spirit then gave my brother the courage to apply, whereupon he was accepted, and just over a year later successfully completed the program while becoming steeped in newfound Faith and Trust in our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Today, my brother is once again healthy - physically, emotionally and spiritually - and living a blessed, Christ-centered life.
My brother and our entire family are so very grateful to Jesus and the Holy Spirit for bestowing such marvelous blessings on my brother, and likewise grateful to the leadership and staff at Union Gospel Mission for introducing him to Jesus, and contributing in such a meaningful way to his recovery and Salvation.
I have participated with Union Gospel Mission Sacramento for ten years now. They are great at their mission and vision. I have recommended many, many people to their care without hesitation. I have initiated support for them and been honored to come alongside them as they care for needy & hurting people. UGM is an under-appreciated ministry and deserves the status of Great Nonprofits!
Union Gospel Mission has been a major influence in bringing many to Christ and guiding them to a great future in serving our Lord. My own husband is one of these who has benefited from their ministry! I thank the Lord for this kind place!
I had the pleasure of being apart of the Union Gospel Mission Annual Birthday Party for the Homeless along with Connecting Gods Movement (CGM) and Del Paso Union Baptist Church family. They welcomed us with open arms as we served the people of God. There is truly some amazing work going down here, with so many beneficial programs to help the people in need. I highly recommend donating, partnering and volunteering with this organization. They are doing WONDERFUL things for this community.
We are Ted and Dee Burdine, Outreach Coordinators for Capital Christian Center, Sacramento, CA. Over 18 years we have partnered with the Union Gospel Mission to have outreach events we call Street Fairs; Christmas to the Streets in November and Rise and Shine in April or May. This wonderful organization has been a place of love for our volunteers and the men in the program that help us with our events. We have seen first hand, over the long haul, how love from the staff of the Union Gospel Mission has changed lives.
It is always a joy to attend the graduation service of the men who have completed their program. The testimony of the Union Gospel Mission is the success of their graduates. The men who have made, and continue to make the choice to work, raise their children to be successful and volunteer and give back to their community.
All of us have choices to make each day, choosing to live beyond ourselves and to put
God and others first is not always easy, but very rewarding. The staff of the Union Gospel Mission in Sacramento, CA at 400 Bannon Street have that gift of love. They give it out every day, to so many people. Lives are changed, hearts renewed and this is what community change is all about. Thanks team for always being there for so many.

We hold special events for the homeless at Union Gospel Mission, Sacramento, CA twice a year. They have the most helpful, loving and happy staff. They are always going the extra mile to help make the event run smoothly while demonstrating a heart of service and caring. From the Director to the interns a spirit of joy is felt by volunteers and guests alike. Thank you for making volunteering a blessed experience.
UGM isn't just preaching the Gospel, they're living it out. They're loving people back to life by helping them while they're down. Reminding those in need that they are loved and that they matter.
My name is Erick Laguna...I have something I would love to share here...one of the greatest thing that has ever happened to me was the day I stepped into UGM...I was a lost, soulless, immigrant, addicted to drugs who only spoke one language back then..."Spanish"...with signs and as I could I told them, "porfavor, necesito ayuda." This means: I need help!.
Without hesitation pastor Tim Lane and Tom Mooney gave me and provided me the help I so much needed back then...home, food, cloth and Jesus...for 13 months I lived in this facility...I graduated from this awesome program...there I was given the armor of God... one night in prayer I was baptized by the Holy Spirit...I learned so much about my savior...today I am an active youth leader in my local church burning with passion for our present generation...I have a beautiful wife and a boy whom won't trade for anything in the world...God has blessed me so much!!! As an immigrant you have no idea what this kind of unconditional love means...to be told by many "you're no good" hurts, but to be told "you're good" by one person can change one's life...this is what happens to me at UGM...I always say UGM is my first home and heaven my last! Eternally greatful for UGM!

My husband and I have been monthly donors to Sacramento's Union Gospel Mission for more than a year now, and we are impressed with the programs that this non-profit has for the homeless. We especially enjoyed reading about a men's graduation from one of the programs that was described in an e-newsletter in the recent past. We also appreciate the Gospel Mission's cards that we received online to hand out to people on the streets of Sacramento.
Overall, Union Gospel Mission is a very good charity that really tries to help people. We feel lucky that it's here in Sacramento, California, where the need for poverty relief is great.
Wonderful group of people that personify Christian charity in action.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review!
This organization helps the poorer of the poor. The employees and volunteers pour their hearts out for the needy. They provide shelter for homeless men and they have a great rehabilitation program for men. They also provide clothing to women and children. They provide food boxes for the needy.
Our church (Covenant Reformed) has been very blessed to have the Union Gospel Mission act as our hands and feet in the ministry to the least, the last and the lost in our community. A terrific, caring group of dedicated people who should be supported year-round, because the needs are there year-round.
It has been such a meaningful experience for me to be a volunteer in the Women's Clothing Closet ministry. I love the way the clothing closet has been set up to look just like a small retail business. It shows respect for the women who come and helps them maintain a sense of dignity. I look forward to the days I'm scheduled to help out because I know I am part of a team that really cares about women who are struggling to make life work.
Union Gospel Mission has provided food for my family on occasions when I had only enough money for groceries or food. They required no income documentation or other personal information - only an explanation of my need. They are a blessings!
I have volunteered at UGM with Bayside Church. I've also helped to pass out meals on Thanksgiving, as well as donate for Tday and Christmas Dinners. When I was given the tour of UGM, I was blown away by the opportunities given to homeless men who are willing to change their lives. The classes and the Bible Studies are such an amazing tool for these men to have what it takes to get ready to get back into the community.
And for women, The Women's Clothing Closet is such a blessing to women needing help, especially for job interviews .
The staff at UGM is so kind and helpful. Some of them are men who went through the Program!!!!
UGM is a blessing for the homeless in Sacramento, there should be more places like this for men and women looking to get off the streets and given another chance through the LOVE AND GOSPEL OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.
This is a great program that helps many people. They give to the homeless and have done much for the drug addicted. All the money you give goes to help those in need.
This organuzation is awesome, people here for 50 yeatrs doing
Gods work, they not only serve the lost and struggling folks but
They do it will gleeful snd generous hearts.... THEY WALK THE WALK!
I work with Robinhooding for the Homeless and Union Gospel Mission is one of twelve shelters that we donate travel-sized hygiene items. They have an incredible program and I've met quite a few graduates who are happy, joyous, and thriving. Whatever they're doing WORKS!
I am a volunteer at Union Gospel Mission. My brother asked me, years ago, if I ever donate to a charity could I please make it Union Gospel Mission. He went through a time in his life where he was addicted to drugs and alcohol. He turned to the mission for help. It was there that he accepted Jesus as his Savior. He said the staff there was very giving, loving and caring and if not for their help he didn't know where he would be today. With Jesus in his life and help from the mission he has been drug and alcohol free for 20+ years. I am so thankful for the mission because without their help my brother may not have been here today.
I have volunteered at Union Gospel Mission for the past 3 years, as a participant through my church and also on my own time not associated with the church.
Union Gospel Mission is true example of an organization dedicated to teaching God's word, and ministering to his people. The Missions provides 3 free meals per day for the homeless men and women within the community, nightly worship services, a clothes closet for women,
The Union Gospel Mission also runs a Recovery Program that provides a safe haven for men to live where they can begin the process of rebuilding their lives. They study God's word, attend worship services, improve their general education and learn skills that they can utilize for the rest of their lives after then graduate from the recovery program.
Volunteering at the UGM has enriched my life as I have seen first hand how God's command to love our neighbor is being lived out in the lives of the men and women who work at, volunteer at, and benefit from the Union Gospel Mission.
One of the biggest blessings God has given me is the opportunity to help serve his people, through volunteering at the Union Gospel Mission - Sacramento
Peace, Love and Blessings

as a teen our church group youth would go to the mission to preach gods word and i've seen first hand the lord's work they are doing. they are my charity of choice as i know of its good use!!!!!
The UGM is a biblically based project to assist the homeless in Sacramento. It does so with dedication and with careful stewarding of resources. What interests me most are two things. First, activities like its drug and alcohol program has a phenomenal rate of success. Second, the UGM accepts no public support and so can concentrate on helping its clients in ways that make long term sense.
As a donor to the Sacramento Union Gospel Mission, I have visited on various occasions to drop off items. I am amazed at how the mission transforms lives through their 9-month recovery program. Quite a few of the men who have completed the program are hired. I see them successfully working, on time, very presentable, and praising God with great thankfulness. I give the UGM an A+ rating.
