Volunteering Oportunities

Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Education, Educational Services

Mission: We seek to provide to early childhood educational programs free or very low cost Tools of Learning, including phonetic, musical and mathematical instruments that allow even the most vulnerable children to get started on success.

Results: Our impact has been impressive. Many children and families have found themselves to be so much more advanced than other children that schools don't know what to do with them! Which is a great incentive for more people to be involved. Ask us at ToolsofLearning@gmail.com for more info. All programs serving vulnerable children can qualify for FREE or low-cost supplies and materials (in accordancw with our annual fundraising successes).

Target demographics: We make available reading, math and learning support to children and families ages 3 to 5 as they geat ready for a lifetime of learning in schools of all types.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 2000+

Geographic areas served: Home area: Solano County, Northern Bay Area, but we serve programs without charge across the country.

Programs: We make Frontline Phonics and (soon) innovative early math learning tools that reward young people and their families through preschools, childcare settings, Head Start programs, etc.

My grand niece is severely handicapped and confined to a wheelchair. Using Frontline phonic, she is now reading at age 4 and spends many happy hours with her books and puzzles.

I have similarly provided the materials available through Tools of Learning to other grand nieces and nephews.. The result: they go to Kindergarten knowing their numbers and how t read. I cannot tell you how much this makes them enjoy school from day one. Being successful in reading makes them want to succeed more. I cannot think of a better way to ensure a child's future than learning how to read as early as possible.

Frontline Phonics is great. My preschooler enjoys the music and has learned so much. I am confident that she will be ready for kindergarten because of frontline phonics and her great teachers.

Tools of learning continues to be a helpful tool in teaching our 3-5 year olds. They are engaged and singing along. It's a great joy to watch kids learn the letters and sounds, then put it all together and see them read!

Frontline Phonics:
The phonics program is very engaging to the children and the music gets them moving. The songs are easily memorized making the kids engage very soon after hearing them.
The flashcards used with the song make the visual recall association.
The individual letter songs are very catchy also, and the repetition of the sound commits it to their memory. It makes it so that the sound stays with them and at the review weeks they can remember it.

Math program:
We’ve put up a number line, with the odd numbers in RED and the EVEN in blue. Every day in our circle time we count and point from 1 – 20.
We do a calendar, where the kids see the numbers every day. In the calendar time, we have a pattern for each number. We start with a 2 sequence pattern and build throughout the year.
We point out at any and all opportunity numbers in our life. Our phone number, address and age.

Tools of Learning changes lives. The greatest impact for children is made when they are young. This starts them on the right path of learning which will affect them the rest of their lives. The hand outs to Jr High School children helps teachers with civic and history lessons. This is a great non-profit with no to little overhead.

The materials provided by the Tools of Learning for Children are of the highest quality. The activities, songs, and workbook are appealing to children and provide the children with developmentally appropriate activities that they enjoy. The result is that the preschool children in our program are learning to identify letters and letter sounds, which is the foundation for good reading skills.

Can you picture a three year old reading? Yes, I said reading and not just two and three letter words, but entire books! These little children have learned to read through the Tools of Learning for Children program. It is a program like no other, encouraging learning through music, song and fun activities which involve the brain and the body. It is truly amazing to see. The goal is to get the program into every preschool in California, especially the underprivileged and at risk schools. It is through early education that we can change our children's futures and Tolls of Learning does just that.

I am a teacher in grades K-8 and am also a volunteer in the Tools of Learning for Children. After meeting with Murray Bass, who is an inspiration and example, I was completely sold on the program. Not only does it teach phonics and yes, Reading to preschoolers, but It also makes learning fun, enjoyable and exciting, instilling a love for learning early in a child's life. I was so impressed in fact that I convinced the preschool at my own school to use it too. It is an amazing program with proven results and Murray does everything in his power to provide the program at minimal cost to ANY school in need. Carla Nelson

Tools for learning has been a very big part of our curriculum in our program for children 3-5 years old, for the past ten years. We have seen all the children leave with tools from the frontline phonics to start their life long reading experience. Murray Bass has given his heart and soul to give us the opportunity to introduce this program to our families. Thank you so much Murray Bass.

Tools of Learning for Children has a wonderful 13 year history of helping adults become literate by teaching them to read at an early age. I am proud to be a part of the organization that has helped more than 20,000 children learn to read in its 13 year history.. Its new math-numbers program can do the same in creating financial literacy. Wonderful!
