Such a great experience in finding our new family member. This rescue is professional and very thorough in vetting adopters. We filled out pages of their matchmaking questionnaire, answered lots of questions, had a home check done, more questions before we were approved to adopt. Their process was lengthy, but I respect the fact that they just don’t give their animals to anyone putting them in harms way. Even one little sniffle, and we had to wait for the final adoption to take place as the reacue ensures our baby was totally healthy when we picked her up. I cannot say enough great things about this rescue. Thank you SOS. Sincerely Duanne Lobeck
This animal rescue is amazing. They save dogs from euthanasia, vet them, put them in foster care to assess temperament and then socialize them, and find them loving forever homes. I have fostered several dogs for them and have been incredibly touched and impressed to witness the extent to which this organization will go to make sure an animal that has been abandoned, neglected or abused, gets the life it deserves. Accolades to all who put in their time, money and hard work at Saving Orphan Souls Rescue, to save animals who would otherwise have been euthanized, simply due to overcrowding in shelters. Some of these sweet animals have been turned out by their irresponsible owners and whenever it can, Saving Orphan Souls steps up to the plates and rescues these innocents.
Caring animal lovers who do the right thing by these animals!
I hadn't adopted any animals from this rescue. However, I have been to multiple adoption events and all the volunteers look happy to be there, and the animals all look healthy. I have talked with many volunteers and they always are positive and upbeat. Bottom line SOS is a great rescue and we will be rescuing our next dog from them.
Such a great experience with this awesome rescue. You must see how happy the animals are in the foster home. The love and care they get is exceptional. Without Saving Orphan Souls we would not have found our darling Kitty Marco. Thanks again.
Jan F from Sun City Grand
Most amazing rescue. We adopted our dog here 3 years ago and have recently started volunteering with them. They are fantastic people and have a lot of great animals that need a home. I would highly recommend checking this rescue out if you are looking to add a member to your family.
Thanks for an amazing experience.

Friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. All animals looked Happy and Healthy. Operations ran very efficiently. Great first time experience adopting! Thank you

My husband and I are retired, and lost our sweet Billy at 18 years old. We were lonely, and wanted someone to take on walks and out to lunch with us. We came upon Saving Orphan Souls Rescue, and met Jaxson. What a cutie, and very outgoing. You could tell the rescue put a ton of time into him. Overall he is a great companion, and so very smart. We love him more than words. We cannot wait to get out of bed and take our morning walks, then come back and have coffee and him a dog treat.
Thank you for all you doing Saving Orphan Souls - Ro and her team.
Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Bedford & Jaxson living in Sun City West
I work from home, and wanted a companion to hang out with during the day. When I met Clariece, it was a done deal. This sweet girl hangs out in her cat tree looking at me and out the window while I work. She climbs down to get pets, and we have lunch together. After work, we sit on the couch and snuggle watching tv. She is my best friend, and I am so grateful for this group rescuing her. Thank you for Clariece.
J Homer & Clariece - Tramonto
Exceeded expectations for a rescue here in Phoenix. Our fate in rescues was challenged with the ones we visited. We felt so sorry for the animals in their care. With Saving Orphan Souls Rescue, this was not the case. Totally socialized, happy fur kids running around the foster homes who were part of the family. You could tell how happy they were. We love our Charles Dickens, and go grateful that we were able to adopt him.
Thank you Saving Orphan Souls Rescue - you are the best.
Charles Dickens Dad - Charles III
Great Group - love their dedication to the animals. They spare no expense. Wonderful socialized animals ready to join any family.
Contact them if you are looking to adopt a fur baby.
I applaud this awesome rescue for all the hard work and love they put into their animals. Our Sebastian is one of the best dogs we ever adopted, and he fit right into our fur and human family. Thank you for being diligent and ensuring the animals are taken care of, and go to qualified candidates.
We love Sebastian - he is so cool and funny - makes us laugh every day.
Ray J. & Family with Sebastian - Prescott
Wonderful adoption process and experience. This group loves their animals, and makes 100% sure that both the animal and the adopters are the correct match. Thanks for taking the time to adopt our previous kitty Luna to us.
Chuck M - Sedona.
We searched and searched for the right family member, and after seeing Charles on an adoption site, we knew we had to meet him. Saving Orphan Souls made the process seamless, although it was very comprehensive. We were able to interact with him in the foster home for over 2 hours, and see how he got along with the other dogs and cats. Thank you for allowing us to adopt Charles. We absolutely love him.
Chad & Family
This group is more than passionate about the physical and mental care they give to their animals. No expense is ever left unturned. They go above and beyond to rehabilitate these animals, and find them forever home. Without this group, we would not have our Tyler who is one of the best dogs we have ever had. He is a hoot, and makes our day brighter on a daily basis. Love this group.
Thank you again - Marie & Larry Oso - Care Free
Love for animals, passionate about those who need extra love, fear dogs, mom's who are left in the shelters/on the streets after their babies were taken away. Sick, injured, this group takes the all, and makes them into brand new loving souls.
Thank you for helping me find my Clarita - she is the best dog ever, and her eyes tell me every day how happy she is to be safe and loved.
SOS is a great rescue!
My story is very long - so I will make it short. I lost my beloved Dexter to cancer, and I was not ready to be alone. My depression set in, and I knew that if I didn't get another rescue, things would only get harder. I looked and found my Bebe on Saving Orphan Souls rescue partner site. It was love at first sight. We are so bonded, and Bebe goes everywhere with me. She is my emotional support dog. I needed her, and she needed me. This organzation is beyond stellar, and to this day, stays in contact with us. Thank you Saving Orphan Souls for all you do!
Sue & Bebe.
EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE from the time I reached out to this organization. We pre-adopted a cat, and had to wait the full 10 days before we were able to take her home. Why - because she had an upper respiratory infection, and the rescue insisted she stay with them until the meds were done, and she was cleared for final adoption. WOW - other recsues would have just pushed her out the door.
We love Saving Orphan Souls and so will you!
My family lost our 17.5 year old Daschund Fred. We were all devastated. LIfe is not the same without a dog in the house. We contact Saving Orphan Souls, went through their intensive vetting process, and ended up adopting Karl. We knew from the moment we walked into the foster home, he was ours. Long story short, Karl is awesome. We extend our utmost gratitude to Saving Orphan Souls for making this possible.
O'Malley Family and Karl (Tucson)
I am a widower who also lost my best friend and companion shortly after my wife's passing. I was devastated. I contacted Ro with Saving Orphan Souls Rescue and she took so much time to find me a cat that would bond with me. Low and behold, Callie was introduce and it was love at first sight for both of us. Callie had a hard start, emaciated, fearful, and covered with sores and fleas. She was skin and bones. They took the time to rehabilitate her and give her a new lease on life. When we met, we both knew we needed each other. She has made my life worthwhile again, and we are a pea in a pod.
Thank you for all you do Saving Orphan Souls
Larry from Sun City West with my precious Callie
Great experience from start to finish! Wouldn't consider any other rescue when we are ready for another fur baby. We cannot say enough good things about this organization. Take our word, you will not be disappointed. Contact them

Ro & Charli are phenomenal! The way they run this rescue is by far superior to any other rescue or shelter we have visited looking for our new companion. Looking for a new family member, contact Saving Orphan Souls Rescue

Immaculate foster homes, happy & well rounded animals, great volunteers and fosters who ensure our experience was perfect. Great Rescue!
Nothing but praise and kudos to this rescue for going above and beyond day in and day out for all the animals who come into their care. You have our full respect and backing forever. Thank you for adopting Gemma to us. Our lives are so much better with her happy smile looking at us every day,.
Gemma's mom Phyllis - Scottsdale
Without this awesome organization, we would not have our dog Dexter. Saved from the streets of Mexico, starving, abused to a rescue who put so much time, money and love into him. A brand new dog he was when we met him, and he grows more and more every day. We love him to pieces. Thanks you SOS for all your hard work.
Connor Family with Dexter
Our experience was seamless. Thorough paperwork, plenty of time to interact with the Bruce in the foster home, questions answered, and follow up done to ensure we were all adjusting well. Love this rescue
Linda H & Bruce from Gilbert AZ
Excellent experience - nothing negative to say - just tons of commendation for this awesome rescue.
Carl & Sylvette Long - Snow Birds from Sun City West and Seattle
We were thrilled from start to finish with the entire process to adopt our kitty. Phone calls are returned same day, and anything we requested was fulfilled immediately. Their attentiveness to detail and ensuring the animals are going to "FOREVER" is commendable.
Thank you Saving Orphan Souls for making our experience one to remember. You do great work - keep it up!
Ro and her team at Saving Orphan Souls Rescue are A+! I have NEVER had any complaints about them. A caring group of volunteers and fosters who always are looking for the best home for their rescue dogs and cats. If you're looking to adopt a dog or ca, Saving Orphan Souls Rescue is the place to look. As a local dog trainer in the PHX area for over 8 years, I've seen my share of mis-managed shelters and rescues, and this is not one of them! Clean foster homes who allow the animals in the home to have free roam to interact with each other. Great job!!
We adopted our dog Dakota from Saving Orphan Souls in 2017, shortly after moving to AZ. At the time he was overweight, and he had scabs from being attacked by another dog prior to being in their care.
They were completely up front about his ongoing needs and we were ready to give Dakota a better life. SOS referred us to a fantastic vet who still cares for Dakota today. Dakota has had other health challenges since we adopted him, but that is a normal part of adopting an adult dog with an unknown past, which you sign up for when you decide to bring them home. Overall, he's been a healthy and happy dog who is completely part of our family. I thank Saving Orphan Souls for saving Dakota's life and bringing him into ours.
Saving Orphan Souls has an amazing set of volunteers and fosters. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. They did a home check for me to adopt my dog, tons of extensive paperwork, and asked us a bunch of questions. This organization works very hard to place the animals in the best homes possible, and with families that connect with the animal.
Thank you Beth
I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am with this rescue. Not at all like I expected with all the bad rap rescues have been getting in Arizona and around the country. The cleanliness of the foster homes alone is fantastic! All the volunteers I've met are super friendly and helpful. If you're in the market for a new furry family member - check this place out! You won't regret it.
Laura & Jazz
Saving Orphan Souls Rescue really does wonderful work with finding homes for all the dogs and felines in their rescue. They take such care getting abandoned, sick and scared fur babies in top shape to go to their furever homes. I got my kitten there four years ago. They had great advice as to how to introduce her to my other kitty. They even followed up a week later to make sure everyone was getting along! Great work guys and gals. Thank you for all you do! Your rescue is awesome.
We found Wiley, now Mr. Mew on adopt a pet. We went to visit him at the foster home, an although there was a connection, I was not sure if I was ready. Several days passed, and I could not stop thinking about him, we went back and adopted him. I am so glad that we did. Mr. Mew is wonderful! He is very loved now! Unfortunately, my other cat passed shortly after we brought Mew home. Pickles had kidney disease and not much time left. Mr. Mew has helped me with the grief of losing my 17 year old. Mew is only 2, so he has a ton of energy! I am grateful to have him. Thank you Saving Orphan Souls for making this adoption possible.
We recently lost our baby boy Rico, and we are devastated so i looked up rescues to see if i could find another dog that looked like him to help us ease the pain. My oldest daughter (3) was very scared and traumatized after what happened with our baby. I found a dog that look almost identical to our and decided to contact Saving Orphan Souls Rescue.
The foster home was amazing and you can tell that the dogs and cats are taken care of, I love that they are not in cages. The fosters who helped us were extremely nice they gave us time to visit with the 2 dogs in the home, unfortunately we didn't connect with the one we had in mind. So they began to discuss with us other options that would work.
They had a puppy in another foster home that looked like a mini version of our baby boy rico. My daughter was ecstatic and i saw her face glow up like before. We went to visit with the puppy, held him, and he cuddled up in my chest, i almost cried of happiness remembering my baby boy Rico. I am more than pleased with my experience. Thank you SOS for working with us. We love our boy more than anything.
I am a Former Adopter who stands by this rescue. They are thorough, and truly love every animal who comes through their doors. Without SOS, we would not have our Lacey whom we love dearly. We love to follow them on FB and see all the awesome work they do with the community. Looking for a new family member - look no further - SOS is the place to go.
Ellington Family
Great experience, healthy animals, concise and clear paperwork. Overall a wonderful experience. Thank you for our fur kid.
Integrity, experience, commitment - just some of the wonderful attributes of this rescue. We have volunteered and adopted from this organization, and we are beyond humbled to be associated with them. They are forthright and do everything by the book. If the I's are not dotted and the T's crossed, a final adoption will not take place. The same goes with the outstanding medical and emotional care these animal receive.
We applaud this rescue hands down.
The Bakers with JoJo & Maude - Snow Birds Sun City & Wisconsin
I had such a pleasurable experience with this rescue. They were very detailed to ensure the entire process was easy and thorough. To date, we stay in touch with them, and love sending updates. We attend events that they are at, just to say hi, and see if we are able to help in any way. They have our total support, and anything we can ever do for them, they just need to ask.
Thank you for SOS for being one of the rare good rescues here in PHX. We had horrible experiences in the past, and you by far are outstanding.
Wehauser Family living in Peoria AZ
Trustworthy, Transparent & Top Dog/Cat - this group gets all three T's from our family, and we thank you for all you did for our sweet fur kid. Such a horrible start Logan had in life, but they made him forget how bad people and life can be. They put so much time and patience into him, that when we finally got to take him home, he fit in right away. He is happy, healthy and so loving life.
Thank you SOS for all you do for the animals of Arizona

I love love love this organization. Can everything be 100% in everyone's eyes? No, not in today's society. But I can give them a 99.99999999% as being transparent, genuine, and they love their animals beyond words. I am so thankful that I found this group, and thank them from the bottom of my heart for adopting our sweet Ken to us. Kudos to everyone who is affiliated with this rescue - you are all awesome!
Annette & Ken Fergus II from New River AZ
What a pleasant experience from start to finish. I cannot say enough good things about this group and all they do for the animals and the community. I would not adopt from any other rescue group period!

Excellent group - thorough - animals are happy - foster homes are clean. Great experience.

We were asked to post a review after we adopted Zeke, and of course, we are more than happy to. Our family was treated with the utmost respect, and the rescue ensured that our new family was a perfect match. Although we came to see a specific animal, it didn't work out. On our second visit, they had the perfect dog who literally came running to us when we entered the foster home. It was love at first site for all of us.
We love him to pieces, and cannot thank SOS enough for everything they do and did to help us find each other.
Awesome, spectacular, diligent, exceptional, great, outstanding rescue!!!! Call them if you are looking for a new family member or companion.
Todd S, Rhonda S & Roscoe
LOVE LOVE LOVE This rescue and all the volunteers, fosters, Directors and of course Ro. This is a tight run ship rescue, who ensure that everything is done to perfection. Nothing is ever left out, compromised, or skimped on when it comes to the animals, their health and their surroundings.
We couldn't be more thrilled with our addition to the family. Please tell everyone you know who is looking for a rescue animal, to contact Saving Orphan Souls - you will not be disappointed.
Thanks again.
Kat & Darren
Trustworthy, immaculate foster homes, passion, expertise, kind hearts, love, balance, professional - just some of the great attributes of this rescue. Do you homework before going to the local rescue - most are horrible as we experienced looking for our dog. Filth, no contracts, few questions asked about us, no home checks, sick animals on the premises, etc. and the list goes on and on.
This rescue is by far the best we found, and we couldn't find anything to complain about. Our experience was phenomenal, and would do it all over again.
Carl
Wonderful Organization - excellent experience from start to finish with them. The team is professional, loves the animals, and takes exceptional care of them. We love our new addition, and cannot rave enough about this non profit rescue in Phoenix. They get an A+++ from us.
Thank you for our previous fur baby - now called Lexi.
ADOPT DON'T SHOP - ADOPT FROM SOS!
Joan & Lexi
Concise, easy, a pleasure to work with this organization. They are transparent in all areas, and never leave a stone un turned. They will answer every question you have, and encourage adopters to stay in touch. There was nothing bad I could say about them, and don't understand how a recent review could post such false statements. We adopted our kitten 3 years ago, and another just last month. During this entire time, their responsiveness, and through processes have remained the same. Just because we adopted previously, we had to be re-vetted again to ensure nothing has changed.
I encourage anyone who wants to adopt - to adopt from Saving Orphan Souls Rescue.
Z. Langley and family from Prescott
Ro and her team of fosters and Volunteers are beyond professional and love the animals. Well rounded little fur babies come out of this rescue, who are both physically and mentally in perfect health. Thank you for adopting to us our precious little fur lady Katrina who we renamed after adoption. She has grown into a total beauty, with a personality to match. Our lives were definitely missing what she has brought to us.
Fleming family & Katrina - Gilbert & Colorado (snow birds)
Exceptional Rescue - in it for the animals and not to turn a quick profit like other rescues. Thorough in-depth questionnaires and contracts ensure that both the adopter and rescue are protected. I cannot say enough good things about this organization. Without them we would not have our previous Kitty Toby.
Thank you for all you do - you are very much appreciated!
Steve M & Family - San Tan Valley
I am saddened to see a recent post about this rescue "adopters are signing an agreement to donate to the rescue" and not adopt an animal. THIS IS FARTHEST FROM THE TRUTH!!! This organization has a very thorough contract which states the adoption donation is NON Refundable. WHY, because if you are not 100% sure about adopting an animal DON'T!!!!! Saving Orphan Souls Rescue puts a ton of time and effort into their animals, and they don't have time to let adopters "TRY OUT" an animal, then decide they don't want or like it and return it and expect a refund. The animals are traumatized, and this is not what SOS is about. Furthermore, every animal is completely vetted with detailed documentation. If there is something that is missing or unclear - ASK!!!!
We love this rescue and ask that you take the numerous positive reviews as gospel, and not the few who seem to think that bashing and providing inaccurate information is ok - it's not.
SOS is outstanding!!!
Adopter beware. You are signing papers that say you are donating to the organization, not adopting an animal. Was threatened with lawsuit if I did not return the animal after issues arose. Was told our animal was fully vetted and was not and volunteer admitted that. No papers ever produced. Dog did not have rabies shot. Was told to get one and would be reimbursed. Never happened and no response on requests. Several volunteers involved trying to resolve situation and owner of company told one of them to "F" off. Everything advertised about the animal on their site was inaccurate. Go somewhere else that actually cares.

savingorphansouls 03/09/2020
We are sorry to hear that you were displeased with our organization. Saving Orphan Souls Rescue takes time to read through our entire contract with the potential adopter, and allows the applicant to ask questions before they sign and the animal is officially adopted. Our contract clearly states that our adoption donation is non refundable as initialed by the adopter. Returning a dog after less than 24 hours tells us that everyone in the household was not in agreement with the adoption. At no point in time was anyone from this organization rude, or for that matter, using foul language - that is not acceptable nor allowed. The false information and threats that were made against this animal by the adopter forced us to retrieve the dog immediately, as we felt it was in harms way. Low and behold, once back in the foster home, the dog was just as we adopted him. We pride ourselves in ensuring every animal is fully vetted, socialized, well-rounded before it is released to the adopter.
I always knew I wanted to adopt a dog with special needs (or many) at some point in my life. My heart broke over and over for the blind, three legged, wheelchair bound, and old animals that people - understandable in many cases - overlooked in favor of more normal dogs. I just didn't have time or place in our home to take this on. Then, in May of 2019, my husband and I lost our little dog, Gizmo. He was little, and he was old and very sick, but the hole he left in our hearts and our home was bigger than we ever could have imagined. I spent some time on petfinder.com and came across Cora. Cora is deaf, and she had been on pet finder when I had looked before (before we lost Gizmo) but we couldn't add her to our pack at that time. As luck would have it, other families who tried to add her to their group were unable to do so (or maybe unwilling) because of her disability, and we won the puppy lottery because we were given the chance to throw all of our love in her direction. Saving Orphan Souls met with us, met with our other dog - Tiger (a 50lb pitt mutt made out of pure muscle and kisses) - and agreed we'd be a great fit for their girl. They were compassionate and understandably worried about adopting her out to yet another home that might not keep her, but we had no question in our hearts. We've had Cora since September 2019 (on our one year wedding anniversary) and things have never been better. She has brought excitement and fun to our lives; she has taught Tiger how to be more patient; and she's taught us that you're never too old to teach a new owner how to teach a deaf dog new tricks! The staff continue to check in on us and make sure things are going great and they make us feel like superheroes for adopting Cora, but the truth is, they're the superheroes for making sure she went to people like us. I just know they do that for all the babies who come into their rescue. I felt confident in adopting from Saving Orphan Souls, and I highly suggest using them for any adoption in your future!
Please enjoy these pictures of Cora feeling very comfortable in our home, and Tiger showing how much patience a "scary" Pitbull can have.
After losing my dog of 18 years to old age, I was devastated. I didn't know if I would ever be ready. It took me 6 months to even look at pictures on the adoption sites, but I wasn't ready to take the next step. Not until I saw my beloved Princess on rescueme. I knew she was the one for me. I just had to meet her, and sure enough.........she ran into my arms. Long story short, we are a pea in a pod.
Thank you Saving Orphan Souls for putting the time and effort into her, making her into an awesome companion. You can tell how much love was in the foster home, and the foster parents even cried when we walked out the door. Everyone knew this was meant to be.
Lois and Calinda living in Ajo AZ
We have been fosters, and of course adopted 2 goofy furbabies! This rescue always makes sure the babies go to a good home! Their fosters are dedicated to helping the furbabies to adjust to their new lives! Learning what love is and that they are safe!
From Mexico to our forever home. Whatever life our dog had prior has now been flourished with tons of love and security. Thank you Saving Orphan Souls for taking our boy into rescue, treating his wounds both physically and mentally, and turning him into one of the most wonderful dogs in the world. Your efforts are impeccable and you are well deserving of a perfect review on here.
Lula and her Mom Delores from Maricopa
When I was asked to review Saving Orphan Souls Rescue, I was beyond excited and of course, said yes immediately. You hear so many negative comments about adopting animals, that I was afraid the same would happen to us. We were apprehensive to say the least. Immediately once we met Ro and her team, our mind was at ease. The animals were all so playful and happy in the foster home, and you can tell very well taken care of.
We love this rescue and cannot thank them enough for our forever fur baby.
Look at our awesome dog we adopted from SOS. We love this organization and all the great work they do for animals in AZ, MX and PR. Our experiences with them were easy, thorough, and they do everything in their power to ensure their animals are going to their forever homes.
Thanks for our family member - we love him to pieces.
Callabria Family from Scottsdale
Rescue animals are the best! Saving Orphan Souls Rescue is the best! Yes - we couldn't be more happier with the entire adoption process, our fur baby, and the way this organization cares about every little detail from start to finish to ensure the animal and the adopter are a perfect match. Thank you Thank you Thank you SOS
H. Leward, Moe - from Tucson, AZ
Great organization who goes well above and beyond the call of duty for each and every animal in their care. No expense is ever too much. Our fur baby was a stray who needed luxating patella surgery, and had a bunch of other medical issues. SOS made sure she got surgery immediately after she was rescued, and took plenty of time with her rehab, and to address all the other concerns she had. We cannot be more thrilled our fur baby, and thank SOS for saving and giving her a second chance at life. You guys are awesome.
Leticia B. - Peoria
We adopted our fur baby from this organization. Cannot speak enough good about all the work they do, and the animals they take, rehabilitate and adopt to lucky families like us. They are beyond great. Please contact either Charli or Ro if you are looking for a companion, family member or you new best friend. You won't be disappointed.
Margaret & Lacey
I have followed this group for 4 years, and the work they do saving animals on a daily basis is commendable and should be recognized. We met them at one of their first rescue events, where we found our fur baby. They have always been nothing but professional, and ensure that their animals just don't get adopted to anyone. They use their gut to ensure it is the right fit, along with tons of paperwork and vetting the potential adopters. Others rescues don't do even a 1/4 of what this organization does.
We cannot be happier, and are a huge supporter of Saving Orphan Souls Rescue.
Jane & Family - along with Fur Baby Moe
A+, outstanding, dedicated, loyal, professional, love for animals - and the list goes on and on. Thanks Saving Orphan Souls for allowing me to adopt my best friend. Lucy and I are blessed that we were brought together by your organizations. Thanks for all the love and patience you put into making her an awesome cat.
S. Hagge - Fountain Hills
Great Experience, Great group of volunteers, Great foster parents, overall a wonderful experience adopting our kitty. Thank you SOS for all you do!
Victor Garcia - Florence AZ
I found this organization on adopt a pet, and made sure I did my research before contacting them. They are partners with many entities, and have an outstanding reputation for animal rescue. I found this all to be true, and even more. The time and effort that they put into their animals is astonishing, and they receive an A+++++ recommendation from my family. We adopted from them 3 years ago, and we are thrilled to have our baby as part of our family. To date, we stay in touch with this organization for updates, and they are always there for us if we have questions. We love SOS!!!
Parker Family - Apache Junction
My wife and I adopted a cute little kitty from Saving Orphan Souls Rescue. Their adoption process was intense, but that told us that they really care about their animals and who is adopting them. Princess came to us completely socialized with other cats and dogs, and fit right into our home. She loves to be held, and hang out watching tv with us. Saving Orphan Souls Rescue is always available for us if we have any questions, and we just love sending them updates that they can post on their website.
A++ rating for this rescue.
Larry & Margaret Blackwell - SCW with Princess
We adopted our kitty from this great organization. Ro & Charli are awesome, and we were astounded to see how clean the foster home was. We were given tons of time to bond with our new family member, and see how she interacted with the other kittys and dogs in the home. I respect this organization for everything they do for animals. Wouldn't adopt from anyone else.
Patrice and Mark Burnett & Luna
Although the entire process took time, it was well worth knowing we adopted two very well rounded, loveable, socialized kitty's from this wonderful group. No animal leaves unless they are 100% cleared for adoption, and if that means the adopter needs to have patience, let me tell you it is well worth it. The good that this rescue does is beyond what words can express. Thank you SOS for adopting our babies to us.
Gene & Laura Wittaker - Charlie & JuJu
SOS to the rescue! Outstanding rescue who puts the animals at the forefront of everything they do. Love, compassion, medical care, rehab, socialization, and so much more goes into every animal that passes through their doors. We had an awesome experience, and would most definitely go back to them when we are ready for another fur baby.
Check them out - savingorphansouls.org
Praise and more praise is all I can say about this team of volunteers who devote their time and endless skills to rehabilitate and find forever homes for the animals that pass through their doors. In addition, they are very involved in helping the community, which is so heart warming. I cannot think about not having my two kitty's which I adopted from Saving Orphan Souls. They are such love bugs, and because of the foster environment, they love other cats, dogs and kids. Bless you SOS for all you do for animals.
Great experience from initial contact through final adoption. Thorough, genuine, people associated with this rescue LOVE animals. We love our dog Charmaine, and cannot thank SOS enough for allowing us to adopt her. The time they put into making sure it was the right fit for both of us was impeccable. Would definitely recommend them hands down to anyone looking for a dog or a cat.
My experience with this group was outstanding. Responsiveness, passion for the animals and overall excellence is how I would rate Saving Orphan Souls Rescue. You can't please everyone, and people love to find fault in everything, but I can tell you that you will be more than pleased with how this group is run.
Yes animals do get sick, and that is our responsibility as adopters to ensure that they get the medical care they need after adoption. I was disappointed in the negative post on this site, as I can tell you this is not how this group operates. They are available 24/7 for any questions. Their entire process from start to finish has every I dotted and every T crossed. The animals are healthy, happy and well socialized making our job as adopters easy.
Love this group! Thank you for our forever baby.
Carl & Janice Ellsworth - Bruno the daschund mix - Prescott AZ
My story - I adopted a puppy from this organization, and was truly impressed. They firmly believe in doing pre adoptions, as until that animal is ready for final adoption, us adopters must wait. My puppy Bo Jangle was neutered, and got an upper respiratory infection the next day. Saving Orphan Souls kept us in the loop, as he was receiving medication for this condition. Once he was cleared for adoption, we made arrangements to pick him up.
Many rescues don't care about just pushing animals out the door. This is not the case with them. I am truly blessed that this little guy is in our lives, and couldn't thank this organization more for all the hard work and diligence they put into him.
Mr & Mrs Lawrence Kilmore
Excellence in Rescue - million dollar non profit - I follow this rescue daily, and see all the wonderful animals they save, and all the hard work they put into our community.
I would never adopt from any other rescue period.
R. Caseres N. Phx - 1 dog 1 cat
Reputable, professional, caring - some of the outstanding attributes of this organization. The animals in their care are happy, healthy and so well rounded it is amazing. Caged - their animals have no clue what this is. Their foster homes are not allowed to kennel their animals, other than at night if the animals so chooses. It is all about running around in the backyard, laying on their foster parents lap watching tv, climbing around the cat trees and interacting with the other animals in the house. If I was a rescue animal, I would definitely want to live in one of Saving Orphan Souls foster homes.
You can tell from the moment you walk through the front door, how happy these guys are, and how well taken care of.
Thank you for adopting our baby to us - we support everything about this rescue and so should you.
Addy & Luna Cat living in Flagstaff
I am a proud cat dad and not ashamed to admit it. When I first laid eyes on my baby boy, I was in love. He was just barely 8 weeks old, and needed to stay with Saving Orphan Souls until he was neutered and cleared for final adoption. Yes, this organization DOES NOT push animals out the door. If it takes a day, a week, a month, the animals stays in foster care until it is ready for adoption. I truly respect this organization for taking the animals well being into account, as many others could care less. It is unfortunately all about the money.
If I could give this organization top awards and more than 5 stars I certainly would. I have referred family and friends to them, and we are all thrilled with our experience and rescue animals.
Thank you Saving Orphan Souls for all you do.
Chris Reese from San Tan Valley
My cat was adopted from Saving Orphan Souls Rescue and came from Puerto Rico. This organization goes above and beyond to help the homeless, displaced individuals, those in need and of course, animals not only in AZ but in Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Abigail is a true princess and truly deserves to be one. Coming in as an emaciated stray in Puerto Rico, scared, sick - she now lives a life of luxury due to SOS. Even though she had a rough start, SOS put the time and love into her, and she is just so amazing. Thank you SOS, Ro Perez, fosters and all the volunteers who make this happen.
Courtney M. & Clarissa from Maricopa
Excellent organization who takes pride in every animal that comes through their foster homes. Rescue animals make the best pets, and all the time, love, nutrition and medical care that Saving Orphan Souls puts into their animals is exceptional. Their animals are free roaming in the immaculate foster homes, and well socialized with not only other animals, with humans including children.
I cannot say enough good about Ro Perez and her organization. If you are looking for a rescue - look no where else.
Tony Mann from Surprise AZ & Charli
My emotional support service dog whom I adopted from Saving Orphan Souls Rescue is amazing. She came from Mexico and was found abused and starving on the streets. I cannot begin to tell you how much time and effort this organization put into rehabilitating her mentally and physically.
She is so smart, and is constantly at my side protecting me, as I am protecting her. I cannot thank SOS enough for bringing this sweet girl into my life. At times, I say she saved me, and makes every day brighter.
Dan
We all have super busy lives, but when I was asked to write a review for Saving Orphan Souls - everything came to a hault. Organizations which are in it for their cause and nothing else, is hard to find. SOS truly cares about their animals, and unless you pass their rigorous adoption process, the animal remains in foster. They are not like these other rescues who can't wait to adopt out their animals, and in most cases, know nothing about them. I can truly say SOS knows the good bad and the ugly about every animals in their care. Will they coincide with the other animals in our home. What is their daily routine - you name it they always are forthcoming.
Great rescue - look no where else if you want to adopt.

I adopted my Charli from Saving Orphan Souls Rescue 2 years ago. He came from a hoarding situation, and has turned out to be the most social loving dog ever. This organization provided him the love, nurturing and their experience with animals living in these situations. They turned a shy, wanting nothing to do with people dog, into a confident dog who loves life. He enjoys doing puppaccinos weekly with me, and basically goes everywhere I go.
Thanks Saving Orphan Souls Rescue - you are great.
Tom & Charli from Apache Junction
My Bella is everything to me and my family. After losing a cat who we had for 18 years to cancer, we set out on a search for a new family member. There are so many rescues out there in Phoenix, and it was hard to decipher who was a good one. After a recommendation, we came upon the kittens and cats of SOS. From the moment we picked up the phone, to the final adoption, it was seamless. No stone was left un turned, and our Bella was and is amazing.
The care and socialization this organization puts into each and every animal that comes through their doors is phenomenal. We love this organization, and urge anyone who is looking to adopt to contact Ro and her team of volunteers and fosters.

What is a rescue - people who put the best interest always of their animals at the forefront. Those who provide superior medical care, love, patience, socialization, nutrition and a safe environment to those who are hurt, fearful, have been abused, lost their home, scared and lonely.
Saving Orphan Souls does all the above and more. They love each and every animal like it was their own, and want only the best for them. I wouldn't adopt from any other organization, and tell all my friends and family about them.
Holly, Marc, Tristan, Chloe, London & Eqypt - Chandler
Really bad. Surprised they actually are a real organization. Fraudulent activity and not ethical. Sad for the dogs.

savingorphansouls 03/09/2020
Bailey3305 - please provide us with what fraudulent activity you are stating above. We are a reputable 501C3 fully insured rescue with many organizations as partners. Petco, Petsmart, Pet Market, Best Friends Aninmal Sanctuary, Pinal County, Maricopa County, Pima County, Yuma HS, Arizona Humane Society, CABRA, PACC911 and the list goes on. In order for us to be partners with the above, we must uphold strict standards at all cost. If there was any issues whatsoever, our status would be cancelled with our partners. We pride ourselves on the time, love and expense we put into each and every animal that comes into our rescue. I wish you would have reached out directly to us for an amicable resolution. Our rescue will do everything in our power to ensure the adoption is closed and the adopter and animal are satisfied. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss further.
Great Rescue - We follow this organization on a daily basis, and see all the wonderful things they do for animals. Our Cat Patrice came from them, and the entire experience was fantastic. There are so many horrible rescues here in PHX, hoarders, etc. that to find one who goes above and beyond for animals is heart warming.
Thank you SOS for all you do for animals and the community. Keep up the outstanding work.
Lois McMann Gilbert
Great Rescue - cannot speak enough about the wonderful work they do with strays, abused and owner surrenders, along with how much they help the community.,
Look no further - if you want perfection reach out to Ro Perez and she will treat you just like she treats every other potential adopter with the utmost respect and diligence in finding your new best friend.
Awesome rescue.

Saving Orphan Souls Rescue gets an A++ (10 out of 10) rating from my family.
Ro Perez and her team are exceptional, and take the utmost best care of the animals in their care. Every animal in the foster home we visited, was very well socialized and greeted us when we walked through the door. You could tell how healthy and happy they were, and it was such a joy to see.
Our two cats, both adopted from them, are the light of our world. We enjoy sending updates to the rescue, and seeing our babies posted on Facebook. Any questions we had or have, they always respond to us with 24 hours.
I love this rescue, and so glad we adopted from them, and are able to make donations to them throughout the year to continue to save others.

Where do I begin? We visited several different rescues here in PHX before we ended up adopting from Saving Orphan Souls Rescue. Either the facility/foster homes were dirty, animals were kenneled, lack of information about a specific animal we were interested in, and the list goes on and on.
My neighbor adopted from a large rescue in PHX, and they ended up lying about everything with the dog. The dog was sick, never introduced to cats, was told gets along great with other dogs, it did not, the dog was a total mess. We did not want to go through this ordeal.
Saving Orphan Souls Rescue provided complete medical records, showed us in the foster home that the dog was great with cats and other dogs, and even liked children. The dog was confident, well rounded, and behaved. Their intense process from start to finish was cumbersome, but we are thrilled that we decided to use their organization.
You can certainly see from the time you step into the foster home, how well cared for these animals truly are.
Thank you Saving Orphan Souls - you are a gem!!!
Louise
By far one of the best rescues to adopt from in Phoenix. They take the time needed to fully vet the adopters, to ensure the animal is going to a safe loving forever home. They spare no cost when it comes to medical for the animals, feed only high quality food, and provide a ton of love of socialization.
I cannot tell you how thrilled we are with their entire process, and our new family member.
Your comments are absolutely false, you didn't accept any responsibility or assisted in any manner. Your description is a misrepresentation of your weak internal operation and controls to care for the animals and place them in healthy environments. I spent over $1500 in vet bills and testing to get Aria to a healthy place. My vet is willing to provide a letter on the condition of Aria when she came to my home which I also provided Petco. I'm all for saving animals and for charitable work but not for negligence and misrepresentation of these poor pets. You deleted other online comments and your FB page because of my reviews.
Thankfully I had the resources to provide for Aria, I feel sorry for the families that didn't and had to suffer financially or make hard decisions. Your reviews are all solicited by staff and from recent for a good reason.

savingorphansouls 03/09/2020
Sally G. We are unsure who Aria is, as we did not adopt an animal out with that name. Every animal that comes through our rescue gets a complete medical examination and applicable treatments while in our care if needed. Since all requests filter through myself (Ro) or my Director (Charli) at no point was the above brought to our attention, or we would have taken steps to help you. As our contract states, "as is" as once an animal leaves our possession, we cannot control the food, environment, illness. other animals, etc they are susceptible to. Anyone who adopts an animal should be ready, willing and able to provide whatever treatment is needed throughout the course of the animals life. I can assure you that no adopter has financially suffered, as we will go above and beyond to help, even after the adoption, to ensure the animal 's well being is taken care of. Our facebook page remains in tact since inception on 2/2016, as well as our website savingorphansouls.org
There are a lot of animal rescues here in the Phoenix area. There are many reasons I chose to volunteer with Saving Orphan Souls. I adopted from them, so I know their screening process is thorough. I had helped them gather citrus, clothing and blankets for the homeless, so I understood their commitment to not just animals but to the community. I was asked to help collect collars, harnesses and leashes to donate to the homeless who were being hassled because their dogs were not leashed. I have fostered both dogs and cats for them, so I know the quality of foster homes they look for. I have helped deliver pet food to the working poor who desperately want to keep their pets. Ro Perez may not be your "cup of tea" personally, but you will not find anyone in this area with the rescue heart she has. I am pleased and honored to be involved with this organization.
We adopted a senior Mini Schnauzer through SOS, it was a great experience all around. Ro Perez cares passionately for the animals and it is apparent in the way she screens potential adopters. SOS is responsible for rescuing so many animals that might not otherwise have a chance. Never buy a pet, rescue one from Saving Orphan souls!
Several years ago I adopted a cat from this rescue. She is one of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen, and was worth waiting for. It took a long time to get her because she was so little, and had a respiratory infection. But as much as I bugged and begged the rescue to let me have her, they made me wait til she was healthy. While I was upset at the time, I am glad now that they made me wait. My baby grew up to be a healthy happy cat! So, when I decided to adopt a dog, I came back to SOS. They don't always have small dogs, and I could have gone elsewhere instead of waiting, but I decided to wait. My dog is as healthy and happy as I could ever want. The screening process was fairly simple for a dog, also, and I could not be happier with this group. I may not adopt again for a while, but when I do, I will definitely come back to Saving Orphan Souls!
I have adopted two kittens through Saving Orphan Souls at two different times. The people I worked with are friendly and were very helpful in finding me a kitten that matched my lifestyle. Both kittens had been vet checked, fixed and were ready to go. When one of my kittens passed away unexpectedly, the director called me to make sure the other kitten was okay. When I am ready to adopt again, I will go back to Saving Orphan Souls.
Hi - I adopted three cats over the past 4 years from this organization. They are always willing to answer any questions I might have, and love getting updated pics from my babies. Each and every experience with them was professional, and they ensured that every question I had was answered, and in turn, they made sure they were completely satisfied adopting to me.
My kitty's were very well rounded, and easily fit into my household. Actually they are very loving little guys, whom I am thrilled to be able to give a new life to.
Saving Orphan Souls Rescue is exceptional. Please contact them if you are looking for a new family member or companion.
Lois
I adopted both my cat Charli and Dog Cesar from this organization. Their founder Ro is very thorough and ensures that every question is asked, and home checks are done for the safety of the animals. I couldn't be happier with SOS, and am an avid supporter of Everything they do. Follow them on facebook and see all the wonderful work they do, on a daily basis, along with helping displaced, homeless, and other areas like Puerto Rico and Mexico during their times of need. This speaks volume for their reputation and how they run their rescue.
I cannot begin to tell you how professional and upstanding this organization is. It is all about getting the best home possible for all their animals, and most definitely not about seeing how many animals they can adopt for profit. I have worked with this organization since inception 4 years ago, and have seen how many animals have been provided forever homes.
The foster homes are beyond clean, no animal is ever kenneled, tons of socialization around cats, dogs and kids to ensure the best fit, high quality medical is provided, and of course tons of love.
If you are looking for a top notch rescue - look no further.
Terrific nonprofit. They were easy to work with and the adoption processes was quick and simple. Highly recommend to anyone looking for pet.
When asked to write a review, my answer was most definitely. I love this organization and everything they stand for. Honest, trustworthy, loves the animals in their care, wanting only the very best for each and every one.
Take into consideration that not everyone can be pleased. People in general look to find fault with others. Well they can keep looking, as you are not going to find fault with anyone affiliated with this rescue. They are pristine and I am proud to say a huge supporter of their efforts.
We were asked to write a review about our overall experience with Saving Orphan Souls Rescue.
I cannot tell you how wonderful this organization is, and it pains me to see that two people left a negative review. Ro Perez does everything in her power to ensure the adopter is well versed on the animal they are adopting, and never pushes the animals out the door like other rescues.
This organization has a long list of supporters, and is held in high regards in Arizona. If you are looking to adopt - you want to make sure that the rescue is held in high regards. Saving Orphan Souls certainly is, and I wouldn't adopt from anyone else.
Outstanding Rescue by far in Phoenix. We had the best possible experience we could have ever imagined adopting our Sally Mae. This rescue will not adopt out animals who are sick or non socialized. Every animal in their rescue is exposed to cats, dogs and kids. This way no one ever has to worry what will happen when they get the animal home.
Saving Orphan Souls deserves an A+ in all their do for the animals in their care and for their community efforts.
Thank you for our wonderful family member.
Ida Murschan
Great organization. Wouldn't want to adopt from any other. I love my Missy, and so glad we adopted from Saving Orphan Souls Rescue.
Missy was completely potty trained, well socialized with cats, dogs, kids and people. They did all the work for us, and because of that she fit right into our lifestyle.
I applaud this rescue for doing the right thing from the time they take an animal in, until the time they place them with their forever homes.
We love SOS and so does MISSY! She says keep saving animals Ms. Ro.
Andrea - Fountain Hills AZ
Great organization. Wonderful to work with. Transparent - takes the animals best interest to heart. Will spend all the time in the world to answer questions and ensure that the animal is a good match for adopter and vice versa. They would rather the animal not get adopted, then let it go with just anyone.
I adopted from them 2 years ago, and follow them on Facebook and all the wonderful things they do as an organization. What organzations worries about the homeless and their pets, the elderly, displaced individuals, animals in crisis in Hawaii,Puerto Rico and Mexico. It doesn't matter the situation, this organzation is always willing to help those less fortunate including animals.
Love love love this organization and Ro Perez. They are transparent and in it for the animals only. Not like other rescues in it for the money - devastating.
I welcome anyone to question their ethics as you are sadly mistaken.
Kathleen - Buckeye
Outstanding Rescue - does everything by the book and makes sure their animals are healthy and going to the right forever home. We couldn't be more thrilled with the entire process, and saving a dog versus getting from a pet store or breeder is the only way to go.
Ro Perez is very thorough and grills each candidate to ensure her animals are going to the right home. Animals are 100% healthy, and if not, they are preadopted and we wait until they have final health clearance.
I am sorry that two people disagree with me, but there are always people who have nothing but negative comments no matter what. You cannot make everyone happy.
We love Saving Orphan Souls Rescue and you will too.
Contact them if you are looking for your new best Friend.
Robert - Surprise
So sad to see these two reviews. In life you cannot make everyone happy, and that is truly what I believe these reviews to be. Saving Orphan Souls Rescue is by far one of the best rescues in Phoenix, as they partner with many entities. Their reputation of being tough is done for the sake of the animals welfare.
They don't just adopt to any person. They screen, double screen and triple screen every potential person, along with home checks, to ensure that animals will not only be safe, but loved and well cared for. They take pride in ensuring that only healthy animals are adopted out, otherwise they do pre adopts like my little angel. We had to wait two weeks for final clearance from the Director for us to bring her home. What happens after it leaves their care, is not on them but us as adopters.
To the person who posted about ringworm, this is highly contagious, and I know for a fact this organization would never adopt out like this. It could very well have come from the adopters home, or somewhere that the adopter took the animal.
I will 1 million percent stand behind this organization, and encourage anyone who wants to adopt a dog or cat to do so with them. There are so many bad rescues in PHX - do your due diligence before adopting, but I can guarantee you if you are looking for phenomenal - look no further than Saving Orphan Souls Rescue.
Scott B.
I am an adopter of a wonderful dog from Saving Orphan Souls Rescue. Ro Perez and her volunteers/fosters always take the best care of the animals in their rescue, as evidenced by the immaculte foster homes. I not only went to their Directors home where my animal was being fostered, but picked him up at another foster's home.
The two reviews I have read on this site are TOTALLY FALSE. I would entrust my own child with this organization, and know first hand how they operate. I have been involved in many volunteer opportunities with them, and everything is ALWAYS done in the best interest of the animals.
They do not FLIP animals like many rescues. They do not hoard animals, like many rescues. Each foster home has ample animals in which each and everyone gets the best of care. Their living conditions are spotless, and they get tons of one on one attention from their foster parent(s).
All animals get upper respiratory infections at a throw of the hat - just like humans. Going from one environment to another, can easily trigger this. I am so angry about these two reviews, but taking into account that they have adopted over 1,800 animals to date, these two people can certainly have their opinion.
DEFINITELY adopt from this wonderful organization.
Mary
I'm writing this review to caution people, and to help them to prepare for the adoption experience through Saving Orphan Souls. I have already written to the organization about my experience and concerns, but it doesn't seem that they care enough. While I respect their charitable effort, I feel that they lack the infrastructure and the controls necessary to properly care for the animals. As things are, it absolutely doesn't seem that they provide them with a healthy and safe environment.
I adopted my kitten 10 days ago and took her to my vet for a wellness check within the first 3 days. Here are her results:
1. She has ringworm. When I first saw my kitten as well as when I picked her, I questioned the caretaker about the scabs which were all over her body. I was told she only had dry skin and that it wasn't a concern and should only use coconut oil to help her.2. She has Giardia. This was diagnosed via a stool sample during her wellness check by my vet. 3. She has an upper respiratory infection. These are serious health concerns especially for a very young cat (2 months old). Following the visit to my vet and her diagnosis, I contacted Saving Orphan Souls. Their response was to try to shift the blame onto me and my care. I have another healthy cat and spare no expense in caring for my pets and providing for them. I also mentioned to them that when I picked her up she had awful odor as if her litter box had never been cleaned. The foster person who met me at Petco to deliver my kitten had highly questionable hygiene. Although I don't wish to be judgmental, that was another indication of the conditions my kitten was fostered in.
I asked Saving Orphan Souls to warn the families who adopted my kitten's siblings, as those families may have to deal with the same health issues with their new pets. I have no sense of assurance that the other families were contacted. Ringworm and giardia are both highly contagious. Dealing with this required me to take additional precautions in order to protect myself as well as my other healthy cat. I spent countless hours sanitizing and cleaning my home. Additionally, I had to spend a substantial amount of money on vet visits for my new kitten as well as my existing cat to ensure that she stays in good health.Safe and healthy conditions are non-negotiable for our animals. I'm supportive of animal charities but I found Saving Orphan Souls to be negligent in caring for their charges.Whether they admit to it or not, I feel it's my obligation to make sure that people are prepared and understand the risks of adopting through them.

savingorphansouls 02/04/2020
As a rescue, we did and will always do what is in the best interest of any animal in our care, or which has been adopted. We ensure that even after the adoption is finalized, we stay in contact with our adopters to ensure a seamless transition with their new animal. Amira was given the utmost of attention to address her concerns, and we even offered to assist however possible. At the time of adoption, the animal was healthy and showed no signs of the above. As with any animal or human, the common cold (URI) can come on quickly, and especially after the animal is spay/neutered which is the case with this kitten. Our contract clearly states that once an animal leaves our possession, we are not responsible for any illness which may arise. All animals are thoroughly vetted, and we spare no expense with medical expenses during the time we have them in foster. We wish Amira and her kitten all the best, and as always, we will continue to be here to provide guidance in the future.
Do not donate to this organization. They pretend to be understanding with your situation of using their services but then blame you for your circumstances and blame you for possible mistreatment of the animals your surrendering. Do not waste your hard earn money to this organization. There are many others that truly care about you and your animals.

Saving Orphan Souls Rescue is highly committed and involved with our community. We provide food/vaccines/medical to those who are homeless, losing their homes, displaced, ill, moving out of state, seniors etc. Our volunteers are trained to address any and all issues, and escalate to a Director or the CEO/Founder if needed. We never turn our back on ANY animal which we adopted, and always taken them back. We would love to discuss this further to see where any miscommunication might have happened.
