With the help of No One Left Behind our dream come true, they helped me with every step of my application process, the great team of NOLB was the first people welcomed me and my family on our first day in U.S.A. Beside shortage of fund, I personally witness the significant support it provides for our brothers and sisters coming from Iraq and Afghanistan in their new country as well as those who are waiting for their dreams to come true. The management team of this incredible organization always stands on its mission to not leave anyone behind, by ensuring to convince the U.S.Government and the congress to approve more visas every year until the last person get what they deserve. As a former client who served by this great organization, I am very proud to get the opportunity to voluntarily helping our SIV community in DMV areas. I would like to thank each and everyone for good work you guys are doing and wishing you all best of luck.
No One Left Behind is unlike any nonprofit I have ever worked with. I first got involved with NOLB during my freshman year of high school when I spent the summer at my school's Policy Institute where I studied refugee issues. For my capstone project, I interviewed founder Janis Shinwari and was delighted to hear about what amazing work NOLB had done for him and his family. He told us that he was very disappointed by the lack of assistance given to translators who move to the US after they work tirelessly for the United States overseas. He left behind many other translators whose promises made my the US Government were broken. When he arrived in the US, he was not treated like a veteran the way he deserved to be. He did not recieve benefits from the VA and No One Left Behind and specifically, James Miervaldis, did amazing work to help Janis and his family get back on their feet. They have given me countless oppurtunities since then and have been a great support in all of my activism. I was lucky enough to meet Ambassador Ryan Crocker and General David Petraeus at a recent event on Capitol Hill. They obviously have great support from both sides of the aisle in Congress. My sister and I joined James and Janis in their work lobbying the office of former Speaker Paul Ryan and witnessed their bipartisan advocacy first hand. Their work has taken many different forms and I am excited to see how they continue their important work in the future.
