I had a wonderful experience at Crayons for Classrooms. The staff was just as excited to be giving materials as we were to recieve them. My students were very excited to see all the great items I brought back for them. They loved that they each got their own supplies rather than sharing like they often have to do when we are short on materials. I can tell it really meant a lot to them because they take extra special care of what they recieved. Thank you so much for this opportunity! We hope to see you again next year!
As an elementary teacher there are a lot of things that need to be purchased that don't always cross non-educators minds like typing paper, books for classroom libraries, math manipulatives, classroom games, markers, crayons, and so much more. Crayons to Classroom provides a wonderful service in helping teachers get these items without breaking our bank accounts! I am only in my 2nd year of teaching, so I am still buying a lot of the teaching necessities--Crayons to Classroom helped keep my purchases to a minimum. The staff were friendly and excitedly greeted all of the teachers from my building! Thank you, Crayons to Classroom!
All of the staff members at my building were able to go "shopping" at C2C for free! We received bags and bags of supplies and materials that we can use in our classrooms. We all appreciate everything that we got for our rooms; it is hard to afford to buy everything we need on our own. All of the volunteers were very nice and helpful and made the experience great for all of us.
I got a great amount of supplies from Crayons to Classrooms for my school. The volunteers were helpful and the school supplies were free!! I had a great experience at Crayons to Classrooms and can't wait to go again. It is great to have some supplies to use when working with the kids!! Thanks Crayons to Classrooms!!!
I work for Dayton Public Schools and was told staff could go to C2C to gather needed materials. I was able to get several items that I could disperse to the children I serve. The staff were friendly and helpful and the materials were ones that benefitted the kids.
Amazing!! What a blessing. It was a wonderful feeling to give a student a binder the next day who has not had the money to go get a new one for over a week! He was thrilled with his new binder. I walked away with so many materials that will assist my every day teaching and instruction. Thank you for being a blessing to the community!
Crayons to Classroom is not only a blessing to me but my students as well. In the past, I was very reluctant about visiting C2C because I thought the materials/items they were offering were things that were no longer used in the classroom. Boy was I SURPRISED! Everything that they offered was something that I could use in classroom. I even picked up a coat for one of my less fortunate students. The staff and volunteers were very kind and helpful. I look forward to visiting C2C every time that I get an invite. Thank you for all that you do.
I did not know what to expect when I went there. It was a pleasant surprise to see so many classroom materials available for free. Not only were there crayons, pencils, paper, notebooks, and every basic need of a student but many materials that were unexpected. I have acquired several letter trays to use throughout my classroom, large envelopes to send important papers home in, soap dish boxes to use to hold crayons or hold flashcards and simple games for students to use when they get their work done. I have acquired books and videos to give away, and even some small toys that the children enjoy getting for one reason or another. The people who work there are courtious, friendly, and very helpful. It was an experience I hope to take part in again and that any teacher or caregiver of children would be happy to be part of. Thank you for everything Crayons to Classrooms.
Crayons to Classrooms was such a blessing. I was able to visit there twice last school year. The entire visit was organized structured from the moment I walked in the door. They provide you with a checklist that shows exactly where each item is and how many you can take. The staff is very helpful. I was able to get so many supplies for the kids in my special education classroom. As teachers, we find ourselves spending a lot of our own money to get supplies for our students, so C2C really helped out in that area. I literally walked out with a shopping cart overflowing with items. C2C is truly a blessing to the Dayton community.
I have been working as a volunteer marketing intern for Crayons to Classrooms for about a month now, and it has been an amazing experience. I never realized how great a need there was for an organization like DC2C, and it is so rewarding to see that need being met. All those who work behind the scenes and everyone in the community who supports Crayons to Classrooms is so dedicated to the organization's mission. It is truly a great non-profit working for a great cause.
Just as carpenters need the right tools to build the houses we live in, teachers and students need the right tools to build an effective education. As the principal of an inner city school where 100% of the students and families we serve are impoverished, I have had several opportunities to witness our teachers "shopping" at Crayons to Classrooms. It's a blessing to me to hear them as they "shop" talk about the things they are choosing and why they are choosing them. I've often heard things like "this would be a great notebook for Quinn" or "Lamia needs this folder". They've also had opportunities to choose warm coats for cold children and personal care items for children who may come from homes where there is no running water. I truly believe God's Angels work at Craysons To Classrooms and we're all blessed by their benevolent spirit of giving and empowering students!
As a former teacher I know how hard it is to make it on your salary when having to spend your own money for supplies for your classroom. This wonderful charity lends a helping hand by providing needed supplies. I only wish all teachers could have the opportunity to shop there. My one wish would be for their to be games and puzzles for use in the classrooms especially the primary grades. Computers are great but being able to do hands on improves hand/eye coordination, social skills and interaction with your classmates
Visiting Crayons for Classrooms was a wonderful experience. In my school district many of the students do not bring with them the supplies that they need to succeed in school, and many times that cost falls back on the teacher. It touched my heart to see the kindness of the volunteers along with the kindness of the donors. The amount of supplies that Crayons for Classrooms had and were able to give away was amazing! This is a wonderful organization.
Our region is particularly fragile. With the loss of major automotive, technology and manufacturing employers, our schools are feeling a bigger pinch than ever. That impacts our students as well. They are lucky to have shoes and winter jacket, much less an assortment of pencils, glue sticks, lined paper and binders. Crayons to Classrooms supplements what our classrooms can no longer afford.
Crayons to Classrooms was a wonderful surprise and experience. I had no idea what to expect but am so GLAD I made the time to participate! It is so nice to be able to provide supplies to my students without breaking the bank. This group is so worthwhile and helps an infinite number of students!!!
Crayons to Classrooms is an amazing place! Our small staff got to go as a group to shop at the facility in Dayton. I was floored by the amount and variety of items that we could choose from! I know that this opportunity will save me money as a teacher and also give me a chance to share various materials with my students that they might not otherwise have. What a wonderful program. Thank you!
I work for a public school district, where the vast majority of our students are eligible for free and reduced-price meals and teachers use their own money to buy the most basic school supplies so students won't have to do without. Last year Crayons to Classrooms made it possible for educators from 13 of our schools to shop in their free store for teachers. At the end of the school year, our students benefited from those trips with supplies totaling more than $22,000. No other program in our area has done what Crayons to Classrooms has done--they addressed a need that no other agency has filled.
The entire experience was very positive. The process was very organized and well-run. The teachers were delightful and SUPER thankful. A great organization serving kids and teachers.
I work at a charter school and look forward to visiting every year. There are a ton of supplies for teachers to choose from. I come out of the place everytime with a car full.
I work in a charter school that serves students who are at the bottom of the economic scale. 100% of our students are free lunch candidates. Crayons to Classrooms allows me to spend less money out of my pocket to provide my students with the basic supplies they need to be successful in school everyday. If it wasn't for them, most of my salary would be spent helping my students succeed.
Our school serves low-income, underprivledged students who don't always have the money for the basics that they need. Crayons To Classrooms helped our school provide the basic school supplies to student whose families could not afford them.
I work in a disadvantaged school and buy a lot of the supplies with my own money. As a school, each teacher sponsers a club since many of our students are not able to particate in extra curricular activities we feel it is important for them to be able to have the experience. I buy a lot of the craft items that the students use and was able to get some materials to use with my craft club students and materials to use in my classroom. This organization is incredible. Thank you so much!
Last school year was my first experience with Crayons to Classrooms. It also was my first year as a teacher. I didnt have much to start with and my students didnt come to school with much either. I didnt know what to expect, but I was very happy with what I found. Crayons to Classrooms was very organized. Their system was good, and they had great volunteers to help me through the process. It was an overall great experience. I left with much needed supplies for my classroom and students.
Crayons to Classrooms in Dayton, OH is a fantastic organization. The money I normally spend on extra supplies for my students I can now use to buy healthy snacks and other incentives. Not only do they offer free supplies that I pass on to my students (we have 90%+ free and reduced lunch)but the volunteers are very helpful and welcoming. Crayons to Classrooms is fabulous!
I teach at a disadvantaged school and your supplies have been extremely helpful for our school and desire to help out in other ways.
This is an AWESOME organization. I teach students that are socio-economically disadvantaged and most of them come to school with no school supplies. I was able to go and gut them amost everything they could need for the school year. There was everything from pencils and paper to art supplies. These are things that are vital to a good, rich education. Without crayons for classrooms many of our students wouldn't have access to these items that other students take for granted.
I had never heard of Crayons to Classrooms before but received an email one day inviting our school to participate. I had low expectations (since I had never heard of it) and was I ever surprised! I went in hoping to get a few markers, maybe some paper. I came out with a heaping cart full of school supplies - binders, highlighters, notebooks, paper, trash bins, dictionaries, and so much more. The volunteers were so helpful and I was so amazed that this was all donated to me and my students at no expense. What a blessing this was for our school, Thank you C2C!
I was granted the real privilege of "shopping" at Crayons to Classrooms with several of my co-workers. The staff was incredibly helpful and efficient, and the volume of materials made available to us at NO COST was incredible! Each of us left with two shopping carts filled with materials we could use to teach, organize and reward our students. In a district filled with children who struggle to obtain supplies for financial reasons, I was so grateful to have access to many of these expensive items. I can now ensure that every student has the materials they need to keep up and suceed.
