Programs: For children battling cancer, extended hospital stays can disrupt not only their physical health but also their emotional well-being and educational development. While treatment is essential, it’s equally important to support their cognitive and emotional needs, ensuring they continue to grow and learn. Cancer treatments often interrupt schooling, making it harder for children to keep up with their peers. The Steam Ahead Wish Basket was created to address this by providing hospitalized children with educational tools that stimulate learning and creativity. The program includes books, puzzles, brain games, art supplies, and an Apple iPad to help children stay engaged, foster curiosity, and support intellectual growth. These resources offer more than just entertainment—they help combat isolation, encourage cognitive development, and provide a sense of normalcy during treatment. To ensure the baskets are tailored to the specific needs of each child, Steam Ahead Wish Baskets are organized into four categories based on school grade/age level: preschool, elementary, middle, and high school. Each category provides age-appropriate items, ensuring the tools align with the developmental stage and interests of the child.
