Mission: Youth, rights & justice is a public charity organized in 1985 as oregon's only public interest law firm devoted exclusively to representing children and youth in juvenile court. Youth, rights & justice now represents children, youth and parents in juvenile court, including dependency and delinquency matters. Youth, rights & justice represents clients who have been deemed indigent in the multnomah county juvenile court and in the oregon court of appeals. Youth, rights & justice also advocates for the educational rights of students in local public school systems.
Programs: Defense - the organization provides legal services in juvenile court to juveniles and parents on a court-appointed basis.
advocacy - the organization advocates for public policy reforms at the local and state levels to benefit children in foster care, youth in the justice system and children with disabilities. The organization also provides limited pro bono legal services and recruits and trains other attorneys to provide pro bono legal services to children outside of the defense and education programs.
education - the organization provides a schoolworks program aimed at keeping children in school and assisting students with disabilities.
