Mission: To work towards the empowerment of women and the elimination of racism.
Programs: Child development program - early childhood education programs are vital for community viability and productivity. Childcare is a necessity for many working families. However, for many parents finding affordable, accessible and quality childcare and early education programs is difficult. The ywca supports quality, affordable and accessible early childhood education that moves adults toward economic independence and provides children with culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate activities for children 6 weeks to 6 years, so they can succeed in school and in life.
4k program - four-year-old kindergarten is available at the ywca through a cooperative effort with the wausau school district. Enrollment is open to children who have celebrated their fourth birthday as of september 1. The 2. 5 hour program is designed to help children prepare for kindergarten. It introduces computers, literacy, social interaction, math, and social interaction. Most of all, it provides a positive learning experience for children to carry with them as they begin their formal school years.
youth program - the ywca offers a selection of youth-oriented programs to address life skills and/or community needs. The selection includes: bullying is never cool, diversity camp, it makes cents, so you want a job? , babysitting rocks, and cooking camp.
