Mission: Led by jews with disabilities, we at yad hachazakah - the jewish disability empowerment center empower our peers with disabilities to control their own lives and to promote access to and full participation in their communities. We accomplish this by serving as role models, by providing guidance, information and self-advocacy training to groups and individuals, and by organizing and activating taskforces to advance jewish community access and inclusiveness.
Programs: Yad hachazakah staffers reach and engage an average of 1,200 individuals and family units per year whether as service contacts: workshop/discussion group participants; volunteers; educators on disability issues; disability-access taskforce participants; e-newsletter recipients; or social media followers.
