Mission: Founded in 1978 when there was very little information and support for those diagnosed with breast cancer, Y-ME developed a The Hotline is staffed 24/7 by trained peer volunteer counselors who are breast cancer survivors. Intepretation available in 150 languages. Volunteers answer questions, provide up-to-date information, both in English and Spanish, emotional support, and hope. Upon request a caller is matched with someone with similar diagnostic characteristics. These one-on-one matches are invaluable to the caller. Other programs are carried out in communities where there are local affiliate offices such as National Capital Area (DC, MD and VA).
