Mission: WXXI Public Broadcasting Council was founded to provide quality public broadcasting for the public in the Rochester metropolitan area.

Programs: Programming/productionwxxi provides a range of national programming and original production across its services. Wxxi-tv presents a pbs schedule rich in history, science, nature, arts and safe children's shows. Our tv productions include: "second opinion", a national health care series; "homework hotline", a statewide education program; "need to know rochester", a local news and public affairs program; as well as many award-winning documentaries. Am 1370, an npr member station, provides in-depth local reporting. Classical 91. 5 features an array of national symphonic and opera offerings, as well as local productions like "with heart and voice" and "live from hochstein". Wxxi's family of radio stations - wrur, wxxy, weos, and with - all provide a mixture of news and music.

broadcastingwxxi operates three public television stations (wxxi-tv, wxxi-world, and wxxi-create); manages the cable channel, city 12 (providing the city of rochester residents with 14 hours a day of targeted, informative and entertaining programming); six public radio stations (wxxi-fm 91. 5, wxxy-fm 90. 3, am 1370, wrur-fm 88. 5, weos-fm 98. 7 and with-fm 90. 1), two hd radio channels (fm-hd 91. 5-1 and fm-hd 91. 5-2); and reachout radio, a 24-hour radio reading service for those who are visually impaired.

program informationin addition to its broadcasting services, wxxi's education and outreach services deliver information to the community through instructional programming, ready to learn, ged connection, vital (video in teaching and learning), college telecourses, outreach initiatives and local educational productions; and a robust website (wxxi. Org) that features streaming of its radio services, tv and radio schedules, podcasts, blogs, video and online forums.
