Mission: World association for community empowerment is a volunteer-driven non-profit tax-exempt organization founded in 2000 to help empower low-income and immigrant communities and families to become self-sufficient through the provision of comprehensive array of services that install hope, foster understanding, self-respect, support, and self-love. Since incorporated, we have worked to develop, promote and support innovative educational environment where children and families have equal access to educational and vocational opportunities and all children are encouraged to reach their full potential. In addition, the organization promotes a network of resources and forums among service organizations to share information and discuss matters of relative interests and concerns regarding issues that affect the families we serve and collaborates with other organizations, schools, local and state governments, religious organizations and the foundation community to continually improve opportunities.

Programs: World Association for Community Empowerment, Inc. is a nonprofit community partner that provides support services to families in low-income communities on Staten Island. Our target communities include Fox Hills, Parkhill, Stapleton, Mariner Harbor, West Brighton, New Brighton, Jersey Street and Arlington. We provide Case Management Services, Computer and Financial Literacy Workshops, Work Readiness Training and Job Placement Assistance, Youth Leadership Training, Civic Engagement Activities, Afterschool /out-of-school activities for youth and Abuse and Fraud Prevention Education for the senior population. We also distribute food, clothing, winter coats, furniture and other household items to families in need. In the 21 years our agency has existed, we have provided extensive and wide-ranging support services including information and referrals to families. Our collaboration with various organizations on and off the Island makes certain information, counseling and resource options are readily available for all families.
