I was hired on November 23, 2009 at the WCF Osceola Office. My job was temporary and was to terminate on June 30, 2010. My short experience with WCF was rewarding in the sense that I enjoyed helping customers and received positive feedback for my services to them. However, managers and some coworkers made my work experience at WCF (Osceola Office) hard to forget. Managers and some coworkers treated me less equal than others--I was mocked and harrassed many a times! I am still wondering how the managers and some coworkers felt so comfortable to the point where they felt it was OK to mock another fellow employee just because I happened to be of different ethnicity and culture!
My experience was more than just wonderful is more than just words and i learn alot of things i learn that as i grow i need more responsibility and that you always got to stay on top of thing.I learn how to fax, copy, scan, scan and send to your email, filing papers alpha order, how to behave in a office,muti-task,be respectful at all times, always finish all task if possible. At the end of the program we and got a diploma and as a gift we got an acer laptop and i was really happy to have one and it is very useful and i use for school work and homework.I really hope that they do this program next year.
Working for workforce central Florida was an amazing experience. the way that they checked up on us and fave us wonderful opportunities to be around successful adults made me feel like i want to work hard so that one day i may be as successful.
Workforce Central Florida provided 5 workers for our Youth Centers. Their help was invaluable. The Workforce staff were very helpful and professional. The workers they provided were willing to learn and were great assets to the Youth Centers. I hope we have the same opportunity to work with them again this year.
Workforce Central Florida was able to help me out when no other organization could. Still to this day I can not thank them enough. They provided me with a temporary job that allowed me to earn money over my summer break from school. They didn't just assign me a job, but instead gave me a list to choose from. I had such a great time where I worked and learned so much. I was able to put the internship with them on my resume and was happy to see how impressed employers were by it. Workforce Central Florida put me back on my feet.I hope that others will get the chance to experience what I did! I highly recommend WCF and hope to see them continuing with all that they do!
Workforce Central Florida has developed a great program with the Remployment Intiative. We have participated in the Young Adult Program and twice in the Adult Program. We found 3 very valuable employees that we hired after the program was finished. We look forward to participating in the program in the future. All staff have been very helpful and professional. Thanks again!
Lake Sumter EMS had student workers for 6 weeks during the months of July 2009 and August 2009. We had 4 students. One of the students was extended to stay for an additional 4 weeks. The students were instrumental as we were moving our Support offices from one location to another. Workforce kept in close contact regarding the students progress and work habits. The students were required to keep a Daily Log reviewing their experiences. Workforce collected these weekly and reviewed. One student had an issue regariding attitude and I relayed this to Workforce. Workforce came in immediately and corrected the problem.
My, Experience was rather amazing I , met Great people and worked with people with the up most professional but relaxed environment. I learned what it was like to work for the first time and I loved ever minute of it because the people in the work place I learned about servers and how they work. It boggles the mind of the great people you can find in a work place and I would LOVE to come back time and time again. Thank you United way for the best work experience ever.
I have been involved with Workforce Central Florida for a number of years, meeting with their leadership, observing their day to day activities at their One-Stop centers and, when I can, helping this talented group of professionals as they sharpen their mission and go about fulfilling it. What has so impressed me is WCF's willingness to continually reach out to the corporate, academic and civic communities to help define their charge and then to solicit their help in carrying it out. As a member of the higher ed community and a volunteer board member for the organization, I am kept continually aware of the issues and concerns faced by WCF and can play a role in helping them to find resolutions. Their efforts to tackle the needs of the high tech and healthcare indusstries are a case in point -- how to use their limited resources to best near and long term effect, where to put their dollars to help those most in need of career skills training and employability, how best to direct the Stimulus monies to ensure positive impact on the community while doing so in a transparent, highly auditable/visible manner. The list goes on, as does the positive impact had by WCF on our local economy. WCF gets high marks for redirecting their emphasis two years ago -- making the employer their focus and then going about finding the skills training and employees needed to meet the employers' need. To the corporate community, this signalled a change from the important, but limited, welfare-to-work mentality that is so common with workforce groups, to a customer driven environment that ensured improved placement opportunities for the unemployed (or underemployed) by first reaching out to the community of employers to determine where the greatest need was today and was likely to be tommorrow. Dollars could then be appropriately allocated to address both the near and longer term needs of our local, 5-county, economy. This approach has drawn the interest of many other workforce groups intent on changing their culture and driving more positive results from each dollar allocated to them. WCF is highly regarded in our community for their willingness to be flexible and to change to meet the needs of a fluid jobs economy. Their leadership knows what's happening on the local, state and national stages -- communicating this back to their varied constituents and always trying to anticipate how these events, economic changes, legislative initiatives, and budgetary challenges will impact their ability to serve. They have invested in local companies, providing training grants for their employees; support K-12 education through helping to arrange internships, summer jobs, supporting STEM initiatives like FIRST Robotics and providing teacher grants for excellence. Last, WCF spends significant time in determining targeted industries in need of their support -- building a database of information and tapping into the community's resources to ensure that those we help today will have the best chance of gainful and ongoing employment tomorrow. Wonderful group. They set a strategy, identify supporting goals, adopt appropriate tactics to meet those goals and watch every dollar to ensure that it is well used. Here, again, this approach resonates with the community and ensures that WCF has the support they need to continually improve. Steve Brown President DeVry University, Orlando, FL
We were able to take advantage of the WCF mobile unit to train our employees on the new version of Microsoft Office 2007. This training greatly reduced the learning curve for many of our employees and helped to make the transition to MS Office 2007 much smoother. We were glad to have this resource available to us for no cost.
Workforce of Central Florida is really a great place. During the summer of '09, I was bored with nothing to do and needed money. WCF put a together a summer program for teens like me. It was a great experience for us. We were able to stay off the street, make money and learn new skills also. I really hope that they do it for us this year in the year 2010.
Getting hurt on the job and being treated like a dog was my experience three months into the job site. The workforce people that I'd associated with were very unprofessional and should all... never mind. After being hurt and treated at the urgent care clinic I was told that I no longer had a place with Workforce central Florida and had to self terminate my program. I still bare three scars on my body from being rammed by person operating a forklift and then was thrown off the work site later that day. There is more misery to the tale that never got heard or justice served.

Thank you for your feedback on the Summer Job Connection. We take your feedback very seriously and will use it to guide us in future programs. -WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA
Enterprise Florida Inc., participated in the Workforce Central Florida Summer Job Connection 2009 prgram. We attended a half-day orientation session where the program is reviewed and expectations are set. We came prepared with specific job descriptions for each opening and were able to interview candidates for our 5 job openings. We provided orientation for our interns and set very clear expectations. Each intern was assigned a supervisor. The interns also met with the HR Director on a weekly basis. We mentored and coached them to success. Our interns were professional and truly added value. They enhanced our lives and we are truly thankful for the experience.
