Causes: Philanthropy, Public Foundations
Mission: To improve the lives of women and girls in our region by driving social change, providing opportunity and promoting economic self-sufficiency through education and advocacy, empowered philanthropy, collective partnerships, and strategic grantmaking.
Programs: Grant making: a $10,000 grant was given to the partnership for families, children and adults to update sexual assault examination equipment. Grant cycle engaged our robust nightingale network in local philanthropy, networking and learning opportunities.
collaboration: continued to work with partners across the state to eliminate barriers to women and girls' success. Partners include mayor's council for women, partnership for families, children and adults, and healthy and free tennessee. Continued the work of the tennessee women's fund alliance, meeting quarterly and designing our next campaign.
advocacy: our advocacy committee researched issues, followed proposed legislation in the tennessee general assembly, created legislative priority list, issued calls to action on bills as appropriate, and attended women's day on the hill. Wrote a bill to protect victims of domestic violence from eviction, which was passed unanimously.
