Mission: The wnc birth center provides comprehensive primary and preventive care from
Programs: Fy 17 was the first year of operation for the wnc birth center. Two certified nurse midwives began providing services on july 12, 2017 and prenatal care was given to 177 women of whom 81 gave births during our first 12 months. All mothers and babies were healthy. During this time the birth center was evaluated by the commission for the accreditation of birth centers and received preliminary accreditation. This allowed us to then seek contracts for medicaid and private insurance coverage. These contracts are now in place. The number of inquiries for care and birth has grown gradually through the year.
