Mission: The primary purpose of wise counsel research is to understand and share knowledge about the role of wisdom in contemporary life by conducting original scientific research, disseminating findings, hosting educational events, and organizing sponsored competition to discover and share contemporary examples of wise counsel.
Programs: In 2017, wise counsel research (wcr) continued its international study of family wealth and buiness, the "100-year families project," which is based on qualitative interviews of families who have successfully transitioned a family enterpirse through at least two generations. We have now interviewed over 90 families, half from north america and the rest from europe, south america, the far east, and the middle east and africa. This is an unsurpassed sample of a population that remains notoriously difficult for researcher to access. Based on the study, we released in 2017 a new white paper, "governing the family enterprise," which has been purchased or viewed by thousands of practitioners and family leaders. Wcr also published several articles and videos on the subject of wisdom from classical philosophy in such journals as the claremont review of books. Most notably, we completed and published in 2017 our latest book, *complete family wealth* (bloomberg/wiley), which summarizes the results of wcr's research from the last two decades. Finally, in march 2017, as a result of its significant impact on the field of wealth/philanthropy studies, wise counsel research was named"outstanding contributor to wealth management thought-leadership" by *family wealth report*.
