Mission: The wisconsin land and water conservation association's mission is to protect, conserve and enhance wisconsin's natural resources by serving and representing county land conservation committees ("lccs") and conservation department staff operating under the authorities granted in chapter 92 wisconsin statutes.
Programs: The wisconsin land and water conservation association manages the directives of sitcom (county, state, federal, and private conservation agencies) to deliver high priority conservation training to resource professionals and manages the directives of the standards oversight council (county, state, and federal conservation technical experts) to complete work on two high profile technical practice standards (nutrient management and pervious pavement) as well as maintains the socwisconsin. Org website, revised a number of less complicated technical standards, and updated work plans. The association's staff led a coalition of counties, agricultural, and environmental groups to successfully persuade the legislature to retain county staffing grants for land conservation. The efforts included initiating a series of strategy meetings with coalition partners, meeting with legislators, and encouraging association members to express support of the effort to state agencies and their legislators. The association developed statewide conservation outreach materials through its outreach committee, provided input to agencies and sitcom on technical issues, conducted its annual professional improvement conference, and through its youth education committee ran its statewide envirothon and poster and speaking contest programs.
