Mission: Wisconsin cranberry research and education foundation, inc. (wcref) is a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to engage in any activities permitted or authorized under chapter 181 of wisconsin statutes; to operate exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes; and specifically to (1)provide professional education for cranberry growers and employees of cranberry growers; (2) develop a research facility for scientific research related to the horticulture of cranberries; and (3) research and develop best management practices designed to minimize environmental impacts of all aspects of cranberry production. Without intending to limit the generality of the foregoing, the corporation is formed exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code of 1986, as amended and in effect. Wcref is supported solely by generous gifts from indiviuals, groups and businesses.
Programs: Two day cranberry school that teaches about insects, pesticides, pollination, drones, pest and nutrient management. Additonal programs include leadership development and research station.
