Mission: We inspire people to enjoy, value and protect the wild character and natural legacy
Programs: Protecting public lands: we watchdog the agencies in charge of public lands and we call for sound management decisions. We advocate for restoring wild, natural habitats and do hands-on stewardship. We organize volunteers to support the forest service through boots-on-the-ground activities. -nine program staff devoted full-time or part-time to "forest watch", restoration monitoring, legal advocacy, community engagement, agency collaboration, and stewardship -in 2014, our work expanded to include eight southeastern states where we monitor the management of public lands -volunteers gave 4000 hours to stewardship in 2014 championing wilderness: wild south is working to create new wilderness areas in the south and to take care of the ones we've got. We work with diverse partners to identify
the best places for new wilderness areas and rally the public to support them. We also send volunteers into wilderness areas as volunteer rangers. -seven program staff devoted full or part-time to wilderness stewardship, wilderness volunteer recruitment & management, wilderness advocacy, and public outreach -2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the passage of the wilderness act, therefore wild south organized and participated in a number of related events -in 2014, wild south engaged 65 volunteer
