As a volunteer with the WHC I've seen first hand the high level of commitment, care and devotion many members are giving to the unowned horse community. Specifically impressive is the orphan foal care which goes 24/7 until weaning.
The bigger picture is humane population control which is being achieved by inoculations administered to prevent pregnancy. There are training requirements, equipment expenses and inoculation costs that add up. This is not an inexpensive or easy endeavor. As an Equine Veterinarian for 40+ years I assure you the WHC people I've worked with are very competent.

They always respond when wild horses get into the neighborhood and gently guide them back to the BLM land.
This nonprofit and its volunteers are very professional and passionate about their cause. Safety of the wild horses and community is a genuine priority.
I have been a volunteer with this nonprofit organization for a couple of years now, and they are amazing, compassionate people who really care for these horses, and They have made a big impact on my life as well, and still have these horses we need people like this in our community in our lives, and in this world. I have been a volunteer to help care for these baby horses and for some injured horses and it just bring so much joy to my life to know that I’m making a difference and they also make a difference in my life.
I love their dedication and passion they have for the wild horses. It’s very inspiring seeing them so involved and they really make it a community.
WHC is a wonderful, caring organization. Their handling of calls about wild horse sightings in neighborhoods is swift and efficient. We would have so many more horse vs vehicle insiders without them. Our NV Wild Horse population is a state treasure. Thank you for preserving our heritage.
This team of volunteers represents the voiceless to help them remain free. During busy season some of these volunteers go out all night to rescue these horses. Their hearts are so wrapped in this work that they put it before anything else. No one is paid on this team, but the money brought in through donations, goes towards healthcare, fence mending and feeding for their diversionary program, to name a few. This program is intended to keep Horses safe in the range and away from speeding cars that can be detrimental. I have so much respect for what they do. I am honored that they allow me to help.
Wild Horse Connection is an amazing organization.
Wild Horse Connection works tirelessly to protect and preserve the wild horses of the Virginia Range including public education, rescue of injured horses, wild horse hotline for emergencies and diversionary feeding to prevent horses from entering neighborhoods and highways in populated areas. For example, Wild Horse Connection is currently caring for 3 rescued foals who's mothers died on the range. I am thankful for the many volunteers of Wild Horse Connection and the emergency rescue team who all work together to protect the Virginia Range Nevada Wild horses
We have been affiliated with the Wild Horse Connection since moving to the area four years ago.
They do a wonderful job of helping the wild horses. Foal rescues, diversionary feeding, population control, assisting injured horses, and trying to document every horse on the Virginia Range are just some of the many jobs the Wild Horse Connection does to assist the horses. Please donate whatever you can to this nonprofit organization to keep their great work going.
Thank you, Marc and Alicja Crumpler
Wild Horse Connection is dedicated to all the wild horses that call the Virginia Range home. One would think with the responsibilities they have that they would man a huge staff but quite the opposite..They time and love they put in to caring for these horses allows all of us to be able to go out and enjoy them. Sleep? What's sleep? Two hundred sixty five days a year is the time they give.
I started volunteering with wild Horse Rescue in March caring for the orphan foals. It’s amazing to see their growth and to see them be adopted. These helpless little ones wouldn’t stand a chance without this wonderful organization. Not only is it for a good cause but it’s run by wonderful people who truly care and want to make a difference.
Wild Horse Connection is an all volunteer non profit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of the historic wild horses of the Virginia Range Nevada. WHC has a Range agreement with Nevada Dept Of Agriculture to provide various services to preserve and protect the wild horses and promote public safety.
WHC provides rescue of injured or ill horses, public wild horse safety measures as well as other services for the preservation of the
cherished Virginia Range Wild Horses.
I have volunteered with WHC last winter doing winter diversionary feeding. This is to keep the horses in the hills and try to divert them from looking for food in the neighborhoods and parks. They also have saved two foals needing help off the range this spring and summer. One survived and unfortunately one was humanely euthanized because she was beyond help. They also have a rescue team that assists horses in need due to any human and horse collision.
Wild Horse Connection is a faithful advocate fighting for the wild horses of the West. I love to follow them for stories on the bands, updates on what's happening with BLM and the legislation. I donate to help with the cost of diversionary feeding (also vet bills, supplies for range management, etc). I once had a sick wild by my house so I contacted them and they came out and found him and treated him before returning him to his family band.
I do truly enjoy seeing the photos and videos of these beautiful animals out in the wild. I occassionally even get to see them first hand on my drives. They are beautiful and so majestic. I try to donate to this group often to help them keep these animals safe.
My personal experience with Wild Horse Connection is they are Dedicated, Responsible, Professional, Honest, and Caring. 24/7 they and their team of volunteers are working to help save our Wild Horses. God Bless them.
The Wild Horse Connection is a hard-working group made up of real people with big hearts, strong arms, and lots of energy! They're devoted to protecting the wild horses of northern Nevada and don't just talk about it. They repair fences, herd horses back to safety when they've strayed, and educate both the public and politicians about best strategies for ensuring public safety while keeping mustang herds sustainably managed. They're tireless and humble -- and inspiring.
My name is Richie Asencio and I’m a Wildlife photography. For the last 3 years I’ve done documentation of the Virginia Range Wild Horses. When I come across injured or deceased Horses I call the Wild Horse Connection. They come or get me the help that is needed to take care of the situation. We have worked together on so many cases I couldn’t even give you a number. Great organization.❤️
Wild Horse Connection is a hands on nonprofit and I try to help in anyway I can. I would give them 100 Stars if I could. They put Blood Sweat and Tears into protecting and caring for our wild horses daily. You see them out there building fences, gates even cattle guards and face the trauma and death of our beautiful wild ones constantly trying to navigate in a world filled with humans. There are also those heartbreaking events, that we have had more of recently; our horses being hit by cars trying to cross the highway. Fences are needed and water troughs to keep them from being killed. They are out there on weekends building fences, digging, leading horses away from danger even horse poop cleaning weekends What ever it takes!
A week ago, in the late evening the flashing horse crossing sign was not working, no fencing along the side of the road they found two horses were hit and killed crossing the street, The road dark . What they witnessed was brutal and hard to see, not to mention after, they went to check on the remainder of the band to make sure there were no others injured, they came across one of the horses and he was fine, then found the stallion wandering another street smelling the ground trying to pick up the scent of his mares.
The emotional hits kept coming as they continued to drive finding his family hiding in the shrubs all huddled together, went back and caught up with the stallion and guided him back toward his band. He proceeded to move them towards an empty field where they will go to morn the loss of their family members. Seeing the stallion looking for his family the tragedy continues but they keep working even in the dead of night despite morning would come soon and back out they will go.
As a spiritual Grief and loss/violent loss Counselor I know the emotional pain that they also suffer with critical incidents like this recent one but they are out there even in the wee hours of the morning. Guiding a mare and her foal away from danger.
It seems they have little personal time as They are out there on weekends building fences, picking up trash, digging, provide water resources in the higher range so the horses stay high up and not down on our community, leading horses away from danger, training rescues, what ever it takes! Even horse poop cleaning weekends. All money that is donated goes for a worthy cause!

My husband and I are so happy with the work Wild Horse Connection does to help the wild horses! They go above and beyond to help any injured or abandoned foals and have even adopted 6 of them! Whether its The work they have done to mend fences that keep the horses off the roads and out of neighborhoods or running out to various areas on the range to help an injured horse, they are always there! Corenna and Karen are two of the most lovely people who have devoted their lives to these horses! This takes so much effort and time for them and yet when ever I have asked where to go to photograph them or ask about how we can help, they are more than gracious! We support their efforts and applaud Wild Horse Connection!
I love having Wild Horse Connection come up in my feed. Their photos are excellent and I love the simple captions that give information in a big way. Great job!!!
This non profit has proven to be all about all that is good for our Wild Mustangs !
They offer Education & safety for the public and work with developers about fencing etc. to keep them out of neighborhoods . They are All about being a voice for the voiceless , doing all things possible to keep them Safe, Wild and Free! They are humble as anyone that has worked beside them knows. They are never ones to draw attention to self for the selfless acts of humanity and countless hours of time spent in all they do in the name of Nevada Mustangs. A Proud Thank you and Prayers for a success in your Non Profit Organization …. to continue making a difference for our Historic Wild Mustangs
Lets see
Where all their donations are going. They need to be transparent and accountable for the money they receive. Also why they block people who ask this question. Something isnt right. Everyone needs to ask where the money is.
My experience with this nonprofit have been rewarding as everyone works hard to help keep the wild horses wild and free. From building and maintaining fences and wild horse rescues these folks truly care about the horses.
Every single day I see the crew at Wild Horse Connection feeding our beautiful horses, keeping them off the streets and keeping them safe up in the mountains. I know they strive to keep all large animals safe and are fully trained in doing so. Thank you Corenna and Karen for keeping our wild mustangs happy and healthy!
