This group has not only helped ladies with the loss of their spouses but has also reached out to the loss of children. A couple of the ladies have lost children prematurely.
I've attended many grief groups and saw counselors as well. While those were ok and somewhat helpful, they did not build relationships. And I usually left feeling sad and a bit heavy. These "programs" are mainly for receiving information. Widowing Well fosters and nurtures personal relationships. We laugh, cry, encourage, and check in with each other often. They remember you on holidays and "Angelversaries". You are surrounded with compassion and love. We share each other's burdens and pray for each other. So much desperately needed laughter is shared. Plus it's just women so we can be vulnerable without worrying about anyone trying to take advantage of us. It's a safe place!
For those that have experienced a loss, this group provides support and resources to navigate the road ahead
This group mentors young women that are widowed and have children. We come along beside them and help support them in every way possible. We have seen huge life transformations in our group. One widow had been in bed for a year. She came to our group and with our love and support she is caring for her children and has recently gone back to work in a professional job using her degree from Mays Business School at Texas A&M. Changed lives is our goal: to help women get back on their feet after losing a husband and to support them while continuing to be a single parent.
