Volunteering Oportunities

Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: WHINNY rescues horses that are innocent victims of abuse and/or neglect and horses that are slaughter bound. WHINNY also accepts horses that are loved by their owners, but can no longer care for them properly. Horses that are healthy enough to be adopted complete rehabilitation and training and are then adopted out to forever homes. Horses that can not be adopted out, for whatever reason, are given a permanent home with WHINNY.

When I first approached WHINNY, I was hoping for a paid position. They were unable to offer that due to financial limitations. I chose to volunteer at WHINNY rather than accept a paid position at a different stable because of the true passion for the horses. The quality of care far exceeds that of other facilities in this area.

Before I became a board member, I became an adopter. The adoption process was very thorough and care was taken to make sure that the horse would be happy with me, instead of just verifying that I would be happy with the horse.

You simply cannot find a better organization than this one. I have been nothing but impressed since day one. The people at WHINNY do not just heal horses, they are healing people as well. It is amazing, and has changed me for the better.
