Mission: The mission of the organization is to provide opportunities for affordable housing alternatives on whidbey island by utilizing existing housing and helping bring together home providers who want to share their homes with home seekers looking for an affordable place to live. W. I. S. H. Also provides referrals to other organizations/agencies, background and reference checks, conflict resolution between home providers and home seekers, and periodic match follow-up.
Programs: During the past year, the organization provided housing or resource information to 1267 people. Home matching was provided to 81 individuals, 69 white, 2 black, 2 hispanic, 4 asian/pacific islander, and 4 american indian/alaskan native. The organization provided eviction prevention services to 13 adults and 3 children; 650 was provided for short-term rental assistance. Of the households served, 11 were domestic violence victims, 6 were cronically mentally ill, 3 were developmentally disabled, 2 had hiv/aids, 2 were alcohol dependent, 1 was drug dependent, 1 was a veteran, and 51 were elderly. 58% of the households served were below 30% of area median income, and 14% were below 50% of area median income.
