Mission: Westfield youth assistance program serves as an early intervention advocate for youth ages 3-17 who are facing challenging life circumstances. We take a holistic approach to coordinate our community's vast array of talents, services and resources to help youth and empower parents and caregivers.
Programs: The recreation and camps program provides opportunities for youth who have financial and other needs to participate in camping and recreational activities. We were able to send several youth from the westfield community to camp tecumseh in july 2016. We also assisted in sending one youth to a water rafting trip with camp tecumseh, and two youth attended the boys and girls club of noblesville for three weeks during the summer. We were also able to provide athletic shoes, uniforms, and sports fees for many different sports in the westfield area to youth who would not otherwise have been able to participate in the sports.
the youth and volunteer recognition program honors selected youth and volunteers for their volunteer work, heroic deeds, employment, or other activities which contribute to the well-being of the community. In 2016, we hosted an event in april to honor outstanding youth in the westfield community. The honorees received a personalized t-shirt, a personalized plaque, and gift certificates to local eateries.
the purpose of the mentor program is to provide identified community youth with a meaningful experience from a caring adult, building a trusting relationship which will enrich and benefit the child's life. In 2016, mentors worked with mentees aged 5-17 for a total of over 1,000 hours. Mentors completed weekly mentor reports for the activities they engaged in with their mentee. We hosted three training sessions for the mentors, a celebration for all of the current mentors, as well as a picnic.
