Mission: The purpose of the western south dakota community action agency shall be to make an effective impact upon the causes and effects of poverty in our communities and to assist those living in poverty conditions to help themselves overcome thses conditions and to make a more sucessful impact upon their own future well-being.
Programs: Community service block grant provides funds for school supplies, gardens, youth recreation, personal care, and community action teams. Department of energy provides funds for weatherization of homes. Low income energy assistance provides for furnace repair or replacement. Our food programs provide supplies to local food pantries. We receive approximately 25,000 volunteer service hours (approximately 197,500 in dollar value) annually to help us provide assistance. Our programs serve approximately 12,000 low income individuals per year.
