Causes: Developmentally Disabled Centers, Disabilities, Human Services
Mission: Established pursuant to federal and state legislation, the organization functions both independently and as a partner with the west virginia division of rehabilitation services (wvdrs) to ensure that west virginians with disabilities have access to community-based resources that promote personal choice and facilitate the achievement of their independent living goals.
Programs: Ron yost personal assistance service (rypas) program - provides personal assistance to individuals with disabilities within the parameters of the establishing state legislation and as directed by the rypas board
west virginia statewide plan for independent living - develop, monitor and evaluate the wv state plan in cooperation with wvdrs; coordinate activities with the west virginia rehabilitation council and other councils, boards and commissions that address the needs of west virginians with disabilities.
other programs - provide other services related to independent living for individuals with disabilities, including installation of fire detectors, interpretive training for family members and guardians, and conduct activities aimed at raising awareness and integration of disabled individuals into the greater community.
