Programs: Many informative meetings were held regarding the overfishing of our aquarium type exotic fish. Our work with the kona nightingale donkeys is ongoing and continues. We are finding homes and doing research to find a sanctuary for them locally to keep some on this island. We continue to provide educational material where ever needed and requested. We also worked with other animal agencies locally and with the police department. We continued our program that grants to local animal welfare agencies whose programs are focused on low or no cost spay/ neuter programs which directly benfit our residents. In december we gave a grant of $2000 to advocats for their neuter program, $1000 to hui pono holoholana for their spay/neuter program, and $2000 to three ring ranch. We co-sponsored humane society day at the state legislature in honolulu on february 14, 2014. We hosted lunch and two of our board members attended. President ginger towle was awarded the humane hero award for her outstanding support for animal protection by the humane society of the united states.
