Mission: The waldorf school of atlanta develops in its students the will to become life-long learners by fostering in each student the ability to think with clarity, feel with compassion, and act with purpose in the world.
Programs: To provide a private school setting for a progressive arts-integrated pre-kindergarten through middle-school education using established waldorf principles and curriculum. Early childhood programs emphasize reading readiness and math skills through practical life activities, strong daily rhythms and freedom in play. A second early childhood center was opened in the inman park area of atlanta in 2014. Children ages 2-4 are served at this location. Five kindergartens and grades 1 - 8 comprise enrollment of 221 students. Lower grades, 1-5 provide both an artistically rich and academically challenging progression through basic skills acquisition in and ascending spiral of knowledge. Middle school students, 6-8 encounter academic rigor in the sciences and math using refined observation, critical thinking, and age appropriate writing. Students graduate with 6 years of string instrument instruction, facility in a second language, impressive arts and crafts expertise, and a notable curiosity for learning.
