The local county economic development corporation is assisting in applications for total restoration of the dam that will provide the water energy to power the antique grain processing it was once famous for. The dam's hydro electrical potential will generate on site electricity and sale-back of surplus to the local utility company. The use of this renewable energy source will be an educational model for the local schools and reinforce the importance of a green conscious society. Over $100,000 of costs were incurred in the current year and were capitalized as an asset, rather than expensed.
a forum has been created to allow and encurage local amish craftsmen to manufacture and sell their goods including handcrafted furniture, rugs, quilts, and other home furnishings as well as organic home baked and canned goods. Small business startup services and facilities are available, as well as advise from knowledgeable and experienced local retailers for new entrepreneurs.
community park - a two acre park has been established and maintined for the benefit of residents and nearby neighbors. The park includes a playgound for the children and a trout fishing stream highly favored by local fly fishermen. The grounds also contain a large lawn frequenly used by residents as an off-leash excercise area for pets and a sloping hillside great for winter time sled riding.
