Nicole has stopped at nothing to make sure her voice is heard for her children and for every child with disabilities. She saw firsthand the drastic differences with law enforcement and how her son was discriminated against and treated differently. I have worked with Nicole on numerous occasions both professionally and personally. It has been an honor and pleasure to work with Nicole. Nicole truly knows what it means to make a difference in this world. She saw a need and hasn't let anything get in her way to help so many children and families. She is an unstoppable and courageous leader who is not afraid to bring tough topics to light. Nicole has taught me so much in the time I have known her. I always look forward to our conversations and any meeting I am in with her. Nicole is humble, honest, kind, her heart is bigger than anyone I know and she lives her life with the utmost integrity. She has grown Voices of Change 2018 from the ground up. I am so proud of everything she has already done and can not wait to see what the future holds for this incredible organization!
Incredible mission lead by a woman who knows what it's like to stand alone during the worst times of your life. Through her own pain, Nicole realized she never wanted another family to ever walk alone. Voices of Change 2018 mission, vision and philosophy is like no other organization. It's unfortunate an organization like this needs to be in existence but, I am so glad that Nicole founded Voices of Change 2018 to be a voice for children with disabilities. Hats off to Nicole for seeing a significant need and putting her own pain aside to help others. Not many people can find strength as Nicole did at such a dark time.
Prompted by the sexual abuse of both of her children, Nicole Moehring, Founder and CEO of Voices of Change 2018 (VOC), created this much needed non-profit organization to respond to the need for a voice for special needs individuals who have been sexually abused or neglected. There was a startling difference between the responses of authorities to her typical daughter’s account of her experience and that of her special needs son’s experience. In her daughter’s case, in a matter of weeks, the perpetrator was arrested, convicted and began serving his punishment. Her son’s case, though the allegation was substantiated through forensic interviews, has dragged on for six years.
The mission of VOC is to reduce the risk of abuse, neglect and exploitation for children under age 21 with cognitive, intellectual and physical disabilities. By sharing their experiences in collaboration with other professionals, the goal is to build a foundation of advocacy, awareness, resources and support for children with disabilities and their families.
Though Nicole has built a tremendous nationwide network of experts, law enforcement, legislators and others, she has done the groundwork herself. As she continues to expand her reach, she has added volunteers and has an active board of directors to assist her. However, the time she devotes to research/development, networking, counseling, speech making, interviews, regulatory compliance, fundraising, etc., is daunting. She is passionate and committed to making a difference in the lives of those who need a voice. I commend her for her dedication to this cause.
Additionally, Nicole has contributed to related legislation, ie., Federal Crime Victims with Disabilities, HB281 and Evan’s Law. She was presented with the Crucial Point Award and honored as an Inspire Medina County Everyday Hero. She is also the author of “Finding Myself, Overcoming Abuse, Heartbreak and Loss, Then Finding True Love.”
It is an honor and a privilege to recognize Nicole for her accomplishments thus far and see the difference she has made and will continue to make. Well done, Nicole!
Voices of Change 2018 was established to help children with physical and cognitive disabilities obtain the legal assistance that children without disabilities can easily. We are in the process of creating children's books that focus on explaining abuse to these children and their parents and how to go through the legal system and obtain justice and closure.
I have been a donor to Voices of Change 2018 since 2018. Their mission and vision for children with special needs is very much needed. I applaud Nicole for her strength, courage and bravery for using her pain to start Voices of Change 2018 and be able to help other families. The programs and books Nicole and her team are creating are needed for children with special needs. I can't say enough about the amazing work and women who founded it.
One of the most painful journeys I have ever been on was finding out my son-in-law was abusing my grandson. I was given Nicole’s name at Voices of Change 2018. She came highly recommended by many individuals. That is a call I will never regret making. From our first call, Nicole has gone above and beyond to help our family. She is so well connected throughout the country and was able to provide me with the appropriate resources for our family. Nicole didn’t just stop there, she has so much passion and empathy for what others are going through, she has followed up with me numerous times to see how I am handling things, how my daughter and grandson are and to ask if we needed anything else. What an outstanding business owner. She leads by example and stands behind her words! She is a woman of integrity! She stands strong behind their organizations mission.
She and her daughter have built this organization from their grief, to help others. I highly recommended Nicole and Voices of Change 2018. Nicole has dedicated walking this journey along side with others, so they don’t feel alone! I am so glad they started Voices of Change 2018. There are very few resources available for families of children with special needs. I applaud Nicole and all her efforts.
Mrs. Moehring's children are victims of sexual abuse. Her son, Evan, has special needs. Law enforcement discounted his abuse and did not believe him. They did not know how to deal with children with special needs. Mrs. Moehring started her own non-profit to fight for the rights of children with special needs. He has developed materials to educated law enforcement, parents and guardians on how to deal with special needs children that have been sexually, physically, mentally and emotionally abused.
The executive director, Nicole Moehring, works tirelessly to protect children with disabilities from abuse (sexual, mental, emotional and physical abuse). She works with law enforcement, law makers and other agencies to develop programs to educate parents, guardians and those with special needs.
Nicole Moehring's dedication to guiding and supporting people previously affected by abuse and/or vulnerable to abuse is inspirational. She writes a fantastic column called Safety Goals with Nicole for my publication, Exceptional Needs Today, to benefit families and self-advocates. Nicole's energy is contagious.
Truly an inspiring nonprofit. This group of amazing women tackle some of the most difficult topics and they do it head on. Can not say enough about the extremely important work of bringing awareness and resources to this very overlooked area of abuse toward our most vulnerable children, those with special needs.
