Causes: Religion, Religion-Related
Mission: Our mission is to provide a prayerful voice, attentive to the spirit, through which the faithful can actively participate in the governance and guidance of the catholic church. We pursue church reform oriented towards three goals: support for survivors of clergy sexual abuse, support for priests of integrity, and support for structural changes that reform the human institutional structures adopted by the church. Work towards our goals includes projects aimed at local and diocesan actions, spirituality and communal growth, education, child protection practices, women's roles, bishop selection, hierarchical accountability and transparency, and related reforms.
Programs: Program 1: mission & goals projectsutilized models developed for wider lay participation in diocesan bishop selection. Maintained online forum for information exchange among survivors of clergy sex abuse. Distributed advocacy guidelines for reforming statutes of limits related to child sexual abuse. Provided web space for distribution of spiritual prayers and devotions. Distributed papers on restoring the female diaconate, extending the pastoral provision for ordaining married men to catholics, and reforming the clerical culture. Worked with financial specialists on accountability project and database of diocesan financial reports. Prepared assessment of potential for a truth and reconciliation project in u. S. Helped sponsor national speaking tour on church reform.
program 2: member support & communication projectsdistributed speaker and program options to affiliate leaders; solicited input from affiliate leaders on support needs; supported affiliate actions on survivors support and sol reform. Prepared and distrbuted semi-monthly electronic newsletter to members. Used organization-wide emails to alert members to breaking news and developments in reform. Held monthly conference calls with working groups conducting project work. Consulted with advisory board on organization mission and goals. Initiated redesign and implementation of votf web site.
program 3: member development & national assembly on votf actionsgenerated support and sponsors for votf national assembly. Solicited speakers, advertised programs, and then hosted national assembly. Helped working groups and project committees prepare reports to members. Handled registrations and other bookings for national assembly. Maintained social media accounts.
