Working with an organization as mission-driven as VFA has been a great experience. It's great that there is an effective organization dedicated to advocating for the needs of foster and adoptive youth.
I love working with this organization. Their mission and the projects they do are extremely impactful on our society!
During my twenty-year career as the Program Director of two Oregon statewide adoption programs, I interacted with many organizations that provide education, support, and advocacy for families adopting children from the foster care system.
Since my retirement I have volunteered with one of these - Voice for Adoption. I chose this organization due to its astute advocacy for policy to increase the number of families available to foster children waiting to be adopted, to help adoptive families succeed, and to insure that youth aging out of foster care gain basic life skills. Last year, largely due to VFA efforts, eight states and the District of Columbia suspended the “aging out” stipulation so that youth leaving foster care would receive Pandemic Relief. One of VFA’s current efforts is the prevention of discrimination of adoptive parents based on religion or sexual orientation.
VFA respectfully and regularly keeps members of Congress apprised of the unique challenges parents face in raising previously traumatized children. Through the yearly “Adoptive Family Portrait Project,” VFA introduces members of Congress to an adoptive family from their own district, offering a more up-close and personal opportunity to learn of the needs of these constituents.
Voice for Adoption (VFA) helped us tell our family's story and advocate for children in care. We appreciate the continued work of VFA and believe they are making a significant difference in the lives of many children who deserve a chance to find a forever home.
VFA is like no other! They elevate the voices and lives of countless, vulnerable children and families year after year. I have volunteered with VFA for years and now gladly serve on the Board because of this organization's unparalleled impact and role in serving those who need us most. VFA helps public and politicians alike to not just remember but to act proactively on behalf of all children who touch our nation's child welfare system.
VFA is an outstanding advocate for the 1 in 3 foster youth who identify as LGBTQ+, as well as for LGBTQ+ foster and adoptive families, kin, and families of origin. Our children and families have benefitted enormously from Schylar Baber's compassion, dedication, strategic skills, and effective advocacy. I cannot rate VFA highly enough.
Voice For Adoption supports the voices of youth in foster care,- all of whom deserve a permanent family that they can call their own! Through its mission: Voice for Adoption advocates, educates and collaborates to advance federal policies that promote and sustain permanence for children and youth in foster care, this organization keeps adoption as a priority for decision makers. Every young person needs a sense of belonging to thrive. Thank you, Voice For Adoption.
VFA has been involved in practically every major child welfare reform involving foster care and adoption for the past two decades. Hundreds of thousands of children's lives are impacted every day by the decisions passed down in Washington, DC. VFA reminds the leaders of our nation about the promise they made to our children when taking them into their custody. VFA educates, advocates, and collaborates to promote legislation and practice in the best interest of the nation's waiting children.

Voice for Adoption is vital. Children in care and the families who care for and adopt them have so much on their plates. Their lives are impacted by the decisions made in Washington, DC. They often don't have the opportunity to provide feedback on these decisions. They often are reactive rather than proactive. That is where VFA is the key. These families need to have their stories told, the journeys shared, and their adoption experiences elevated to the national platform. VFA stands with the children waiting to be adopted, with their families, and is the voice for adoption on capital hill. For over 25 years, they have been that voice, here is hoping that they are around another 25 years.
Only one in the advocacy world dedicated to adoption. I am excited to hear that VFA is approaching things from a new angle, permanency means family.
Voice for Adoption is an important advocacy organization; a collaboration of agencies across the nation that work to improve the lives of children in foster care by improving their chances for lifelong connections through permanency and adoption. VFA has a strong voice on The Hill and is a thought leader in advocating for meaningful policies that positively impact children and families nationwide, and guide ethical child welfare practice.
High impact organization that works to improve the lives of children and youth in foster care, the families that parent them, and the professionals that support their permanence.
Working with Voice for Adoption has given me one of the most fulfilling feelings and I feel proud to be part of them. It is an organization that with a powerful mission and clear guidance has succedingly worked and advocated towards an improvement in the foster care system. In my oppinion, there is only a small number of organizations that truly advocate and work for the disenfranchised members in our community, those organizations should be celebrated and commemorated- one of these organizations includes, of course, Voice for Adoption.
Voice For Adoption is an effective and powerful non profit organization. The members and board of the organization use their considerable expertise in foster care and adoption to advocate for policy priorities which truly benefit kids and families impacted by the foster cares system. The Executive Director is passionate about the mission, is well-respected by members of congress and hill staffers, and is a tireless voice for the kids in the system and the families who care for them.
Voice for Adoption speaks out for one of the most vulnerable populations - children in foster care - helping each and every one of them find forever homes. The work they do is incredibly important and unfortunately, there are still far too many children without a permanent family. Not only does Voice for Adoption speak out for these children, but they work with Members of Congress to ensure progress is being made on the policy level to help these children. The staff is very receptive to feedback from families who have lived experience with the foster care system and great to work with.
Voice for Adoption as an organization is a champion for all children in foster care waiting to be adopted. VFA gives these children a voice and fights for them everyday on Capitol Hill. The need for foster care and adoption reform continues to grow and VFA fights everyday for the things that all children deserve, a safe and loving family.
Voice for Adoption does amazing work to improve the foster care system through spreading awareness as well as working towards important legislation. VFA's work on the Every Child Deserves a Family Act is important to ending discrimination in child welfare and makes me proud to be involved with VFA. I, along with so many children and families, are grateful to Voice for Adoption.
