Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Health, Home Health Care

Mission: The Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA) is a national association that supports, promotes and advocates for community-based, nonprofit home health and hospice providers that care for all individuals regardless of complexity of condition or ability to pay. The VNAA's mission is to support, promote and advance nonprofit providers of homecare, community health and hospice to ensure quality care for their communities. VNAs represent the largest network of nonprofit providers of influenza vaccine—over 1.5 million flu shots per year. The VNAA was established in 1983, yet the history of visiting nurse agencies dates back to the 1880s in New York and Philadelphia, where free nursing care was provided to the sickest and poorest who otherwise would not have access to healthcare.
