Mission: The United States Government states that Emancipation for most young people does not happen until age 26. Our mission statement is: HELPING YOUNG PEOPLE COME INTO SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY. Today more than ever before young adults must be prepared to become accountable and workforce trained. The Visions For Youth Program works to help community's address these issues working with school districts, service groups and volunteers. VFY works with Foster Care youth in transition at age 17 there are over 700,000 Foster Care youth. We also work with single teen mom's ages 12 and up. We work with service clubs and other non-profits in training trainers for becoming mentors to older teens and young adults. Volunteers must agree to 1 hour per week. Visions For Youth is a California Mentor Initiative Member and as such can work in all CA school districts and can expand into other states. Our program is a perfect go between for school to work transition. We help young people to understand what it takes to become an employee and what they need to know to help them manage time and money. Our mentors are trained to help coach a young person into making good decisions.
