I had my graduation internship at VinaCapital Foundation from September to December 2019. The internship that lasted more than three months with VCF was a memorable opportunity that I was blessed to be granted. Working at such a distinguished charity like VCF has very much changed my view of life. I felt belonged and was treated with so much kindness and professionalism here, despite being just an intern. I was taught to be comfortable with the unknown, and welcome all new tasks, to make the most out of them in order to not only learn new professional but also soft skills that make a great contribution to my future career.

VinaCapital Foundation provided amazing support for a group of Australians doctors who travelled to Ho Chi Minh City in March 2019 to teach Advanced Paediatric Life Support to Vietnamese doctors and nurses. The aim of the (four) courses run over a two week period was to develop a group of local instructors who can go on to develop a self-sustaining local education program.
We are eternally grateful to VinaCapital Foundation for their efforts to improve the health of children in Vietnam.

Firstly, i wanna say thank you to VinaCapital Foundation for creating a chance for me to be one part of event "Scar of life 9".
Secondly, i wanna share my feelings. when i saw many faces of children that have saved for these years i was so emotional. i think this activity is so meaningful.
Finally, i hope you will organize more meaningful events like that to help more children, to save more people and achieve more dreams. Of course i wanna give you a hand to do good things. i'm sure that all the things you have done until now is so so wonderful, it makes this life more valuable to live.
thank you so so much

I decided to volunteer in the Scar of Life 9 event so that not only I could meet and work with one of my favorite actors, Ngo Thanh Van, but also to lend a helping hand to children in families in need. I learned so much from this experience to be a responsible member of a team, so this event helped me grow as a person in just a day. Also, it warms my heart to know that I took part in saving more than 500 poor children with heart illnesses. I believe that everyone should have access to easy and free healthcare because it’s one of the basic human rights. In other words, my volunteer companions and I helped 500+ children get the health rights they deserve. I look forward to more opportunities to save people who can’t afford to get help for their illnesses. Heartbeat Vietnam is a great organization of doing so, and I am happy to say that I worked for them.

There are not enough words for me to describe how amazing my internship was with VinaCapital Foundation. I was a PR & Events Intern for 10 weeks. By the end of the summer, I felt like a member of the team, not just a temporary placement. The team exposed me to every program, and I had the opportunity to engage directly with our beneficiaries and supporters. I led long-term projects that would support VCF in the long-term, and I felt I was making a meaningful contribution to their work. VCF thrives on mentorship, openness, and support. Each employee is full of compassion and dedication towards the organization's mission. The culture of care at VCF is fully employed towards our beneficiaries, but also our team members. Your team members invest in your personal goals and growth. They stress your value to the life-saving work they do. As an organization, VCF is full of heart. It thinks deeply about how to best help its beneficiaries. It works as hard as it can to save as many lives as it can, every single day. It engages with the community in a variety of ways, and fosters relationships across the country. I am grateful for the chance to work here. I will never forget my time at VinaCapital Foundation.

I'm a high school senior from the CIS. I worked for the VinaCapital Foundation as part of my Co-op Placement program and the organization clearly provided me with an eye-opening experience. Not only did they help children with congenital heart defects, but they also help put things into perspectives for me. The employees are beyond friendly and it really felt like a family working here. What they are doing is truly inspiring and I would definitely consider going back, if opportunities arise, to volunteer at any of their event/programs.

I am a high school senior who's doing an internship here. The employees are super friendly and very passionate about the health of children and the rights of ethnic minority girls. I visited a child who just got his surgery done in the hospital. Both donors and the doctor came in and expressed their care for the child. It's heart-warming to see the bright side of humanity. I would totally go back and volunteer in more programs again during my weekends.

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill
Living in a bright life full of loves and cares from my parents, enjoying every moment I have, and having a good health condition, my life seems to be too perfect to believe on the darker side of this society. I had always known there are rich and poor people in this world but my thought had never gone further from the differences between social classes. I can call myself ignorance, but are we all unaware of some parts in life? Because of our unfamiliarities to world's numerous problems, it does not mean that we deserve any blame. It means we need to experience more in order to be more open minded. As a normal student, with my little knowledge and skills, I have nothing but my desire to learn more about the world, about the hardships other people are carrying. I chose to work at VinaCapital Foundation, a charity program that supports, both mentally and financially, to all poor children in Vietnam, who have heart disease, in order to share burdens with their parent and guardian. Just for a month working at VCF, I have learned more than what I have known for eighteen years. Different cases from different children brought different surprises to me, helping me to recognize my ignorance. A family of four members are living in a 10-meter-squared house, how can it possible? Total monthly incomes of a small family of three people are only 500,000 VND, how can they well spend it for their living expenses? Reading cases, I feel like I am the luckiest girl in this world who is living a life without any concern. Reality slapped hard on my face. Small house and low income, there are people living in a very tight budget and poor condition like those I have known. With all my ability, I tried my best to help those children by writing them emotional cases to help them having a helpful aid from donors. Without a chance volunteering at VCF, I think I would never learn and understand that life is such a challenging path for some people since I have no major challenge in life. The more I know about those poor children, the more I admire them. At very young age, they seem to suffer enough due to their family's tight budget but their health is their biggest concern. I wonder where they get all the strengths and courages to overcome every problem in life. Thanks to VCF, thanks to a month volunteering and working through different cases, I have a chance to open my mind, a chance to be more aware of this society, a chance to improve myself, and a chance to spread cares to people who are in needs.

Even though I participated for the internship in this organization for not a very long time but I recognized its work ethic from everyone and how kind they are. The experience is absolutely amazing, from gathering information or talking to the patients, it completely changes my perspective about how non-profit organizations work. I truly believe if Vietnam gonna have more people like this, people who willing to work extra hours to help others, we will be such a great country.

This is a wonderful organization, which has been doing a lot of meaningful charity work for underprivileged children across Vietnam. Charity and fund-raising events are held mostly every month. Having a chance to work here is also a gift since the officers and staff are all extremely friendly and supportive. Hope that one day I can be back and together with VinaCapital Foundation donate more to the children.

I interned at VinaCapital Foundation for 3 weeks this year. It was a really great experience. The staff are very friendly and also work very hard. This stands as a testament to the amount of children that they help save every year through their various medical aid and empowerment programs. I hope they get continued support from their donors for a long time and are able to save many more children all around Vietnam.

It's such amazing and honored for me to working at VinaCapital Foundation. Life saving and woman empower are our main targets to focus on. In July 2019, it's great chance to reunion all 50 ethic girls at Dream meeting for Brighter Path project. The workshop included the sexual and reproductive health, communication and public speaking, CPR and emergency first aid. Love to see our girls growing up and confident day by day!!!

I’ve been at Vina Capital Foundation interning and volunteering for the past two weeks. My time there was outstanding and remarkable. This was all thanks to the hardworking, friendly and amazing staff. The Vina Capital Foundation is absolutely the greatest and kindest organization there is. From the marketing team to the accounting crew, everyone is so wonderful to be around. They try extremely hard to give kids all around Vietnam the best and are significantly dedicated to what they do. It definitely shows in their great outcome and their actions will be recognized. They’ve helped children with heart surgeries, education and more! Without them, the children they’ve helped wouldn’t be as happy and healthy as they are now. Truly, a fantastic foundation!

I volunteered at VCF for a month. It was a memorable time for me.
The time flew when every day I had many interesting works to do and many experiences working with passionate people. The pleasant work environment is out of my expected. My main job was office work related to files, bios of children, official letters and so on. Do you think it is boring? No, it is interesting for me to work with that enthusiastic people. Let's take part in VCF and you will be welcome and be a member of a big family.

I could do my favorite job, I could work with enthusiastic colleagues, and I could learn a lot of new things in the daily work environment.

Over the past two months I have learned a lot of experience and knowledge that I believe only VCF can provide me. I feel very lucky to be part of the VCF. In the future, I will definitely be a dedicated volunteer who always support when the VCF needs me.

I worked as an intern at VinaCapital Foundation for 2 months. During those 2 months of my internship, I had amazing experiences with amazing people in this place. The first impression I got for VCF was that everyone was so enthusiastic, friendly and welcoming. This is actually the first time that I experienced working at an organization, and the working environment was more than expected, so I just couldn't help feeling extremely happy and grateful to be working with VCF, especially with Heartbeat Vietnam team's superiors and other interns as well.
VCF is special and amazing in what the organization has been doing. I truly hope that I can return and continue supporting and helping them in the future.

I worked as an intern/volunteer at Vina Capital Foundation for 5 weeks. In the end, I must say that this is the best summer I have had in a long time. I got to know VCF through my sister who has fund raised for them before at her school; she praised them for their good work ethics, professionalism as well as the major impact they have made by saving thousands of children in Vietnam. I testify that they do live up to the praise and my experience here was immensely educational and exciting. I felt very welcomed as a new volunteer by all VCF members; they were here to help me whenever needed all along and they taught me all the useful skills I came to learn. Contrasting to the expectation of a cold and distant corporate world, VCF feels more like a family to me as every member was so incredibly friendly, kind and dedicated to their humanitarian work. My supervisor and manager turned into mentors and the fellow volunteers turned into friends. We had the chance to visit a patient assisted by VCF from Lam Dong at Tam Duc hospital; it was very heart warming and truly showed me how much VCF's help meant to thousands of poor families all over the country who aren't able to afford life changing surgeries for their young children. After seeing a sick child being given a normal life and a stable future, I was truly inspired and humbled by VCF's work. I recommend this charity to everyone, as every person who contributes, whether a donor or volunteer or employee, will keep the organisation going and many more children can be saved. I truly hope I can continue to assist them next summer and will be supporting their good cause in the long term.

In summer 2018, I worked as an intern at VinaCapital Foundation. As someone who is not fluent in Vietnamese, I found this charity extremely welcoming and appreciative of the fact that I was willing to help wherever. I enjoyed meeting new interns who were just as nervous as I was at the beginning and watched them morph into new, more confident and knowledgeable individuals near the end of the internship. The warmth and understanding nature of the VCF family is truly inexpressible. I would highly recommend everyone who wishes to help, to join VCF in its ventures. During my internship here, I was given the opportunity to meet with one of the families from Lam Dong who received sponsorship for heart surgery; their child looked as healthy and strong as ever and ready to face the world. The two sponsors, women with a heart of gold, reminded me of my passion for helping those in need. I will eternally be grateful to VCF for providing me with this opportunity, and I hope that I return next year and reprise my role in this beautiful non profit.

I was an intern for VCF for 3 months during the summer. During the 3 months, I managed to accomplish what I wanted from this opportunity which was to see what actually happened behind-the-scenes at NGOs, and although I mainly worked with the Heartbeat team I now have a much clearer understanding of the amount of work that goes on. Most importantly, I have seen that VCF is an organisation based on providing people with opportunity. VCF is an organisation that is truly trying to help the people of Vietnam, from providing girls living in rural areas with education and employment, children with congenital heart defects with life-saving surgery, doctors and medical students with further education and equipment, and everything in-between. The people I worked with at VCF, and especially in the Heartbeat team are true testaments to what the organisation stands for, and I will bring my experience at VCF which me wherever I go in the future.

I worked here as an intern for 2 months, and it was such a great experience that I honestly want to come back and work there someday when I finish my study.

At first it was quite boring, obviously: scanning, photocopying, sending mails, etc,.. but after awhile when the staffs feel like I can do more, they really did try finding something more interesting for me to do. This was my first internship, and I think I have asked way too many questions, but they always answer in the best way possible.

The main task for me there was writing biographies of the kids with heart defects . Yes, it was boring, it was endless, and after times you feel like you cannot progress a single word anymore. But lucky for me, I found my way to get through that. I heard many stories from other team members of when they go on Clinic Outreach, when they tried to contact a kid's family, or when they heard a simple reply "She's death." on the phone. Too many stories, some was sad, some was funny, some was weird, and some was so emotionally moving that I kept thinking of it weeks later. I think those stories are what I was there for. More than the goal of saving children, they also acts as a link to connect people to people. I tried to understand the story behind each biography I wrote, although it was exhausting, but it was worthy.

I just love this place and all them members there sooo much!!

I have been a volunteer for several months of my summer. In my opinion, Heartbeat Vietnam has done a great job of making impacts on undeserved families that have their child/children with congenital heart defects. When I translated the profiles, the stories, and visited the patients at the hospital, I was touched by the family's situation, the emotions that they had been through, and how they overcome to seek help and support. Heartbeat Vietnam has offered more than just a financial relieve: the organization offered to change their identity, their meaning of life, and their stories.

Over these months, I had learned so much. I had learned about the situation of health care in Vietnam in general, I had learned about many different heart defects and how it affected a person's body. I had learned how to communicate, how to talk with a diverse group of people (the Heartbeat staff, the patients' families,...). It was a fantastic experience.

I have been a volunteer for 8 months at Vinacapital Foundation. I did think that I would be useless until I graduate (two years later). But nope, since I have worked here, I feel that I am doing the best job in this world, called helping and saving children's life. Everything we do there, everything we try now, it comes from the bottom of our hearts, with the hope that "there will not any children who will die with the congenital heart defect". So happy with what I am doing here. Thanks VCF for giving me the opportunity to do this job.
