Nonprofit Overview

Mission: The Vilna Shul, Boston’s Center for Jewish Culture, built in 1919, is the last remaining of 53 immigrant era synagogues in the city of Boston. Abandoned by a dwindled, aged congregation in 1985 and reopened in 1995, it has become the only Jewish historical, cultural, and spiritual place in Boston. The goal of the non-profit that operates the building is to restore and preserve the Vilna Shul as an historic site and continue to make it an accessible and inclusive place of learning for people throughout Greater Boston and around the world - offering Friday night and holiday services, concerts, speakers, tours, movies, and other public programs.
