VCA is an invaluable asset to our community. They have something for everyone. I take an oil painting class, and I’ve taken watercolor and paint along classes there as well. My daughter takes a cartooning class and through summer camp has experienced pottery, working with mosaic tiles, and using all kinds of materials for creative expression. Classes are taught by talented artists, who know how to teach others. The staff is friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable.
But, one of the things I like best about VCA is that students willingly unplug and exercise the creative side of their brains for hours at a time. I’ve actually witnessed kids, so involved that they’ve forgotten all about their phones and iPads, during their time at the center.
Everyone has a creative side. All you need is the desire and a little direction. No matter what your level and experience is, you will gain something from time spent at VCA.
I started going to VCA when I was just 5 years old, and I never left! VCA has made such a positive impact on my life, I'll always be an artist because of the amazing experiences I had there. I had the privilege of volunteering for their summer programs all throughout high school and it no doubt shaped me into the person I am today. Sharon and Jayson are amazing leaders and the kids all love them. They treat the students like true artists and the work that comes out of the studio is magical. Would give it 1000 stars if I could!!!
The Village Center for the Arts is an amazing , one of a kind place which allows people of ALL ages to explore their creativity. Staff is very helpful in offering support while still allowing individuals to find their own vision. My daughter celebrated her 14th birthday here a week ago and the girls raved about their unique and FUN day. Thank you VCA for being apart of our town...we are quite fortunate to have you apart of our NM community.
Village Center For the Arts is absolutely unique. As a lifelong artist who has lived in various locations over the years I have never seen another arts center as vibrant and inspiring. What Sharon and Jason and their staff bring to young people is pure productive enlightened joy, in all the art endeavors. I have on occasion helped out on special projects and have been so impressed with the positive and caring energy that finds a home in such a wonderful historic building, situated in a prime spot in town and accessible to all.
Village Center for the Arts is an incredibly special and wonderful place.
I was lucky enough to spend many years attending art classes, volunteering, and creating here. Beyond the phenomenal arts education I received, I will forever be grateful for the love, encouragement, acceptance and validation VCA gave me as a young artist and continues to provide to the community.
I am now an K-5 art teacher largely because of my time spent and memories made at VCA. Quality arts education in a joyful, supportive, and creative space is truly invaluable.
If every town had a Village Center for the Arts the world would be a better place.
I was much-impressed with the care taken to keep my child safe while he created to his heart's content. I was able to enjoy the moment and forget about the pandemic! Just as important, staff respected my son's need to create according to his vision, without judgement and with just a touch of guidance. He left proud, confident, and with a gleam in his eye.
