Veterans Without Orders (VWO) is an outstanding nonprofit organization dedicated to making a real difference. As a volunteer, I had the privilege of seeing firsthand how this team of passionate veterans and professionals brings vital clean water and sanitation solutions to underserved communities across the globe.
What truly sets VWO apart is the level of commitment and heart they put into every mission. The organization combines military precision with humanitarian compassion, creating sustainable and long-lasting impacts for those in need. From the detailed planning to the on-the-ground execution, everything is done with the highest level of professionalism.
Working alongside as a volunteer was an incredible experience. The sense of friendship and teamwork is inspiring, and it felt great to contribute to a cause that is so deeply impactful. VWO doesn’t just provide aid—they empower communities, teaching them the skills they need to maintain their systems for years to come.
I can’t recommend Veterans Without Orders enough for anyone looking to volunteer or support a nonprofit that makes the world a better place. They are a shining example of how veterans can continue serving, and I’m proud to have been a part of their mission

I have volunteered with a number of organizations to serve the well-being of my neighbors, my country, and internationally. It is an honor to work alongside people who want to also work in-purpose.

In 2022, I had the opportunity to be in Guatemala to cooperate with medical clinics that the United States Southern Command was managing in the Department of Peten. During this experience I realized that most of the cases that were worked on and treated had in common, diseases due to poor access to drinking water. During this time I had the opportunity to talk with John Nonnemaker and the work he was doing with VWO, this helped me return to Guatemala at the end of my experience during the medical clinics that were held for almost three months in Peten, Guatemala.

Thanks to John's work, I also had the opportunity to be part of the WASH program in Malawi in March-April 2023. It was an amazing experience, not counting the number of conferences that helped me attend to learn more about the WASH Program.

Today, I am in Guatemala promoting the work that VWO has done and will continue to do, and we have had a good reception from government institutions, non-governmental institutions and the population of Peten.

I'm looking forward to being in Guatemala and working together with VWO to provide access to clean water through health, education and other essential services to create beneficial changes for the population. I am very proud to be part of such a noble institution that commemorates the sacrifice of our men and women in service.

VWO is an amazing organization. They not only provide health and life-saving clean water missions where they are needed but also reach small isolated communities in remote areas to provide these critical services These veterans continue to serve around the world after their military service, which is truly commendable.

VWO has been such an impactful experience in my life. I've always been skeptical with how non profits operate as a whole, as I've heard some not so nice experiences from other friends and colleagues in the past. But seeing how they work first hand has changed my view on them and how much impact they can have with such little resources. Their unique and honed skillset make them to be the most effective non profit in getting the most amount of people access to clean drinking water in such a small amount of time. I highly recommend working for them if you get an opportunity and to support them and their mission if able.

I have worked for many international, domestic NGOs and companies throughout my time doing international medicine. I truly value VWO and their mission in ensuring many communities receive resources for proper water purification. Another thing I value is their proper follow up, they don’t just go in and forget about these communities.
My role with VWO has been mostly medicine. I get to educate these amazing communities on preventative medicine. I get to provide physicals, and address certain medical conditions. I get to tie in the importance of clean water and hygiene to prevent pathogens from entering the body.
In closing, VWO has reached many communities in developing nations, and gave them invaluable education and resources to get clean water. It may seem small to a lot of people, but clean water prevents disease. Clean water allows villages to flourish. I will continue to work with VWO as they are one of a kind.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Veterans Without Orders (VWO) through my involvement with global water projects, particularly during a collaboration for an upcoming trip to Uganda. As someone deeply passionate about both veteran empowerment and global water sustainability, I’ve been truly inspired by the impact VWO is making on the ground.

What sets VWO apart is the way they channel the unique skills and discipline veterans bring from their service to tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues, like access to clean water. The organization not only provides essential resources to underserved communities but also empowers veterans with a renewed sense of purpose and camaraderie.

Their projects don’t just change lives in developing countries; they change the lives of the veterans who serve as well. Through hands-on, mission-driven work, VWO bridges the gap between service members' past experiences and their desire to continue serving humanity in meaningful ways. The professionalism, dedication, and integrity displayed by the VWO team are truly exceptional.

I wholeheartedly recommend Veterans Without Orders to anyone looking to support a nonprofit that is both veteran-focused and committed to sustainable, life-changing projects worldwide. Their work is not only solving critical global issues but also providing veterans with a new mission and a continued sense of service.

As a fellow-veteran and donor, I admire the determination and drive of this organization to continue making an impact after their time in uniform. I appreciated the fact that all the money I donated went 100% to the community they were serving in the aftermath of the Malawi Cyclone. This is an organization that is committed to making an impact in both the lives of communities and also the veterans and first-responders that serve within the organization.
