Veterans Military Honor Guard Of Pigeon Forge

To Whom It May Concern,

For the past year or so, we’ve been working to establish “A Truly Unique & Great Military Honor Guard” for the Pigeon Forge community.

One might ask, how is this Honor Guard supposed to be “UNIQUE & GREAT”? Here’s 3 reasons:

1. Leadership: The Founding Members of this Honor Guard are a STRONG GROUP! As Veterans of America’s Military, they have served throughout the World, both in times of Peace, & in War. Some served in combat; some did not. Some served only briefly; while some served 20 years or more. This group is experienced, dedicated, capable, & determined to do the necessary things that will produce the desired results.

2. Membership: At least 75% of our members must be Military Veterans, but we’ve included both Veterans & Civilians, & we’ve included both men & women. The Civilians include:
• First Responders; we include members of the Police Dept, Fire Dept, Sheriffs Dept, THP, EMS, & Rescue Squad,
• Family members; we include members who are directly related to Military Veterans.

3. Community Support & Involvement: We’ve asked the community to do something communities doesn’t normally do. Honor Guards are normally developed & operated independently from the community. Whereas we’ve asked the community to be a “FULL & ACTIVE PARTNER”. We believe this one item is what really makes the difference. We want a professional, close, & growing relationship with the Civic & Business community, as well as the citizens of, & visitors to the community… We want this Honor Guard to be owned by the entire Pigeon Forge community!

With these 3 items in place, we believe we’re set to become both UNIQUE & GREAT!

Although we are not yet fully staffed, we plan to be by this spring. When we are, we’ll participate in numerous patriotic activities throughout Sevier County, & into the adjoining Counties, but the duty we are most proud of is providing the last Tribute to America's Fallen. We provide "Military Funeral Honors” graveside services for all those whose family requests this of us. When we provide “Military Funeral Honors”, some or all of the following are available: Military Pallbearers, Military Chaplain, Ceremonial Rifle Salute, Sounding of TAPS, Flag Folding Ceremony, & Flag Presentation to the next of kin
