Mission: VFFA started with a simple idea and grassroots efforts by a group of concern citizens in November 2007. This pilot program has a unique funding concept: VFFA works through partnering banks and credit unions to offer certificates of deposit and give 100% of half the interest earned to veterans and their families for needs not met by government services.
Results: In 2012, we helped 15 veterans with emergency financial needs such as elect bills, auto repairs, funeral costs, gas cards, groceries cars, and medical expenses.
Target demographics: veterans and their families.
Geographic areas served: Thurston and Pierce counties, Washington state
Programs: The VFFA is dedicated to raising/dispersing funds for veterans and their families to include areas not covered by government programs. You can invest in VFFA-CD and donate 50% of the interest earned to veterans. Eighteen financial institutions offer the VFFA-CD. Revenue is closely managed by the Board of Directors.
