Mission: To provide support services to
Programs: As an accedited state chapter of the national children's alliance (nca)the vermont children's alliance(vca) continued to grow in its ability to support and serve its 13 member child advocacy centers (cacs). Most notably in 2016,our nationally accredited programs increased from 5 programs to 8. Additionally, the vca went through the national chapter reaccreditation process, ultimately being reaccredited in 2017. The vca awarded scholarships to several programs to attend trainings required or otherwise desired to enhance and support the capacity of each program to serve its local community. In the spring of 2016, member program staff participated in "trauma training" and supported the attendance of 2 cac directors and/or staff to the national childrens's alliance leadership conference. In the fall, member program staff attended "hope changes everything", a 2 day training focusing on human trafficking, developmental trauma, impact of chemical dependency on families and much more. The vca continues to engage in public awareness/social media campaigns intended to enhance the public's knowledge and awareness of child abuse and sexual violence. Finally, we continued to oversee the outcome measurement system (oms) throughout our state; the oms enables our programs to obtain valuable feedback from their clients and partners about areas of strength as well as areas of challenge.
