Mission: Rio grande hospital is part of valley citizens foundation for health care, inc. , a community nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide health care to the western san luis valley.
Programs: Hospital services include acute, swing bed, skilled nursing care, observation, emergency room, outpatient, radiology and surgeries. The organization also operates four physician clinics. During 2017, the hospital had 1,103 acute days, 905 swing bed days, 2,734 observation hours, 5,705 emergency room visits, 23,671 clinic visits, 10,202 radiology procedures, 194,005 lab procedures and 636 surgery procedures. These records include the amount of charges foregone for services and supplies furnished under its charity care policy.
