Mission: The upper midwest community policing institute is committed to the development and strengthening of effective policing based on the principles of ethical decision making, community partnerships and collaborative problem solving.
Programs: In 2017 the upper midwest community policing institute (umcpi) developed, managed and delivered comprehensive local and national training and technical assistance initiatives focused on two areas: 1) de-escalation training for public safety personnel when encountering military veterans and other persons with mental illness and behavior disorders in crisis, and 2) the identification and recovery of human trafficking victims and the prosecution of those who traffic persons. Umcpi also delivered community policing training and executive leadership, coaching and mentoring to members of native american policing agencies. Umcpi also delivered a comprehensive internal affairs investigations classes.
