Mission: The organization undertakes fundraising and promotes volunteerism, advocacy, education and partnerships to address pressing community needs. Financial and other support is provided through community impact projects aimed at improving health, education and financial stability for local residents.
Programs: United way of sullivan county conducts fundraising to benefit local programs and services. The organization also promotes volunteerism, advocasy, education and partnerships--all for the purpose of addressing pressing community issues and improving life for residents of sullivan county. Services include, but are not limited to:1. Administration of emergency food and shelter funds for sullivan county2. Participation in governance and financial support for hudson valley region 2-1-1, a comprehensive information and referral call center for health and human service concerns3. Operation of clothing closets and a wardrobes for work program4. Facilitation of project care, a holiday assistance program that provides food and gifts to struggling families during the holiday season. 5. Ongoing drives designed to provide food, clothing, winter coats and school supplies for those in need6. Facilitaion of community impact projects that include but are not limited to: financial education programs for low and moderate-income families; safe teen driving programs; snackpack programs for students in need; recreation for youth; and health and safety for seniors. United way of sullivan county also provides low-cost rental space to five other not-for-profit agencies in its building located at 33 lakewood ave, monticello; and provides the monticello gymnastics club with 2,000 square feet of space at no cost to allow hundreds of local children to have the opportunity to participate in valuable training and recreation.
