The United Way of the Florida Keys is an instrumental organization is connecting our community. The Florida Keys are spread out over a 120 mile long island chain making it difficult for organizations to serve the needs in our community. Part of what the United Way of the Florida Keys has done is connect those organizations that are providing similar services so that they work together to serve the needs of our community. In addition, the United Way of the Florida Keys funds programs that provide services to help build strong working families in Monroe County. Their focus is on access to quality food and nutrition and on early childhood and youth education and development. As a board member, I have heard often that the programs we fund through the Florida Keys provide assistance to working families in the Florida Keys that are struggling to pay rent, provide quality child care and put food on the table. Through the programs we fund, we're able to provide support for these families in their time of need.
United Way of the Florida Keys mission is to be a Leader in Community Caring. Our primary focus includes Nutritious Food and Early Childhood Education and After School care. Both of these areas of focus are critical in the Keys. Our allocations committee accepts applications each year from 501C3 Not For Profit Organizations that are requesting funding for programs that align with these focuses. All recipients are very carefully considered and site visits are part of the approval process. In addition, these organizations are expected to provide measurable results back to United Way so that we can see what has been successful. Best of all - all monies raised in the Keys stays in the Keys. This is truly a worthy organization to donate funds, and is recognized as an agency that allows match funding when we act as the depository for your donations. Many times dollars are leveraged many times over and everyone benefits. Please consider donating to United Way of the Florida Keys today!
