Mission: To harness the power of our diverse community to disrupt the cycle of poverty for children and their families.
Programs: Uses's youth programming provides a "whole child" continuum of programming from birth to age 17 that serves over 600 children and teens per year. We offer full-day early childhood education as well as after school and full-day summertime programming that focuses on academic achievement, emotional development, and creative expression. Camp hale provides boys and girls with a sleepaway summer camp experience with expanding year-round leadership engagement. Bringing it all together, the family engagement network ensures that parents and families have the resources and skills needed to support their children's growth and development.
workforce readiness provides low-income adults with the education and opportunities they need to move themselves and their families towards economic stability. Uses has a comprehensive program model designed to meet adult learners where they are at, from the lowest levels of literacy to those who have been laid off mid-career. We serve over 150 students per year, supplementing esol and adult basic education classroom instruction with technology training, career readiness, and personal coaching.
uses's senior service program helps seniors preserve dignity, maintain independence and promote life satisfaction. In addition to tangible benefits such as a hot meal, safety repairs for home owners, health and wellness assessments, and classes to promote exercise and learning, our program builds community as residents connect with and learn from each other. While the 200+ seniors served are drawn by the activities of our programs, they benefit from the positive impact of social interaction.
other programs consist primarily of the community center.
